Yo.

I'm currently working on this rondo, what you see on the page is theme A. What i'm wondering is if I move a bit too far from the theme in the elaboration around measure 10, is it too confusing? Personally I think it's fine but I've gotten mixed reactions. Also, would it be apropriate to start the C B theme now?

'Tis a bit much. Of course you can start the C section now!

Hmm.. I meant B theme, of course..

1st Phrase Statement (bars 2,3) - 2bars

Answering Phrase(4,5) - 2bars

1st sentence. In around 8 seconds.

Repeat 6,7

Cut short answer: 8, 1bar only - sounds fine so far spacially(you've slowed the tempo considerably so this could well be considered another 2 bar phrase).

Second sentence. In around 7 seconds.

1st Sentence - about 8 seconds.

2nd Sentence - about 7 seconds.

No problems. So far - it works spacially.

Start 1st Phrase again in recognizable repeat (bar 9)

Bar 9 +

I just have one question. Where is the melody? It sounds like your just composing this piece for it to be difficult. Musicality should always come before technicality. Sure, you may compose a song for a proffessional Violinist in hopes of making it difficult but come up with a melody first then branch off that and make it difficult but there should always be a theme in ever part of the song unless you are transitioning but that is all I have to say. Hope that helped.

A piece for violin is not a song, Tyler. I know Letehn's style, and that's just how he expresses himself. :)

Thank you, Tomas. :D

Bullshit. This is profound (:P) for me, who are you to say it lacks musicality? You obviously have a narrow musical mind.

Ah, thanks. I was thinking along those lines, but you've helped me make up my mind. ;) I'll have an updated version soon....

I did not say it lacks musicality. do not put words in my mouth. That is how you become an enemy. This is obviously your style I just dont hear a theme. This piece does not follow any sort of pattern as a theme usually does. It could be because this piece isn't finished yet but I did not say it lacks musicality. Your song can be played expressively and has te ability to become very, very musical but until It is finished I cannot say anything more.

Yes, sorry, my words went ahead of my thoughts again. (don't you just hate that?) My point was that I like motifs. I find things like three note motifs developed 245820945 ways to be engaging and I disagree with the notion that melody is the most important thing in music, so my compositions may be a bit ''skeletal'' at times.. Just a misunderstanding, no hard feelings.

:D
