2 piano concert

This is how I would describe this song!

It took me 3 weeks to finish it...I wanted to create a playfull song but a little bit different...

When I first started listening to this I really didn't like it all, but toward the end I really started to get into. bravo bravo, good job, A live performance of this would be very enjoyable, If it is actually playable lol, looks likes some of its pretty tough, maybe not impossible though. The only thing I didn't like were the frequent pauses with fermatas on rest or the whole note fermatas. Its just kind of weird when you ahve this whole dramatic fast crazy moving piece that comes to a sudden stop. Hey, maybe you think its kind of cool like racing down the street then coming to a red light, then taking off again. In that respect its kind of cool. Nightfly you need to comment on this.

First of all It's seems like you have tried to create something different. You have achieved it in number of ways. But there are a lot of things in there that needs to be considered again. Let me tell you my thoughts by dividing to sections

Harmony:

It's interesting to note that you have incorporated many diffirent harmonic styles in your piece. For example the oppening bars there was an ascending bass line that's straight out of blues. And then you have those Joplin kind of harmonies goin on in there sometimes. Then you suddenly decide "hey, lets put some debussy stuff in here" (m.77). I think this aproach did not help the piece to have a solid background.

Form:

From what I underestand, this looks like a rapsody. There are a lot of different ideas coming and dissapearing which lead me to think this way. Which is fine, Gershwins rapsody in blue has also a very loose form. That is why it is called rhapsody. So I am assuming thats what you are upto.

Piano writing:

There are many things to say about this but let me make this straight. The piano writing was terrible. Totally non idiomatic. Perhaps you should consider slowing the tempo down, because some of the passages are physically exhausting and might prove imposible.

Overal:

What I see is that you tried to make something different perhaps. But failed duo to poor piano writing and lack of unity in the piece

It's nice that you are expressing yourself with music. Thats something I always apriciate.

Maybe I was too realistic when I was commenting, which led me to be a bit harsh but then again, it's always nice for you to hear what others has to say for your compositions.

what constitutes good piano writing, I'm curious, I think I'll make a new topic.

I think you could accurately entitle this piece Conglomorashin for 2 pianos.

I really enjoyed some parts of it, although some times I got the feeling like a slug get's when he's trying to slither across a leaf covered with glue, only to fall off and fly to the ground lighting quick but stop with a thud.

I like some of it, but not the whole thing.

I am not trying to be rude, but that's just my little comment.

It's ok, nico isn't good piano writing either.

I actually like this piece... well most of it.

Some of is slightly of out of control and if that's what you were going for liek you say.. then good job.

But there were parts wich flowed very well.

I really enjoyed these.

Okay, I really liked this one... but, I do have one bone to pick.

The pianos are going fast... faster.... almost too fast... whole note??? What? A Whole note? NOOOOOO!!!!!

I just didn't like the way you built up to a climax and decided to not put one there. Some people like that, but I think you should have put a big burst of sound and took off with it again.

bold and extravagant piece! very interesting job!

It has some very good ideas and shows alot of potential.

Hey, I would defiantely chose this to listen to over some composers like Shostakovich, Hindemith and some others.

Anyways, keep writing, you definately have alot of energy and potential. You'll compose some very nice works.
