String Quartet - Winter

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

This string quartet was started on a freezing December night last year(2017). I finished the piece this month because I was working on other pieces. (I know it is strange to publish a Winter-themed piece now in summer )

In the first half of the piece, I tried to introduce dissonance to address the seriousness of winter, while trying to make the melody as crystal clear as icebergs. Towards the ending is of much warmth and harmony, which symbolize the end of WInter and the return of Spring.

Hope you enjoy the piece!

HoYin

P.S. I am writing the second movement for the quartet. (Done:D)

Excellent work, this string quartet movement! Well realized the moods of the season and it is modern, but not tedious. I really appreciated your composition.

All the best.

Glad that you appreciate my work! :D Do you think there is anything I should improve too?

Hi Everyone,

I have finished the second movement of the quartet! It is a dance-like movement. This time I added pizzicato into the work with a hope to extend the timbre of the quartet. Do you like this movement? Any comments are appreciated!

The new soundtrack and score for Movement II are added in the top post:) I also created a Soundcloud playlist in case you want to listen to them at once.

Thank you:D

HoYin.
