Impromptu in A Flat Major

Featured Replies

Wrote a short piece based on some themes I got from improvising. I tried to fit them into a sort of ABA form, ith A coming back differently. Would be interested in your opinion on how you thought this worked out. Starts off like a Chopin nocturne, then the B part is sort of Tchaikovsky piano concerto, then A part returns but with concerto accompaniment.

Sounds okay.

Very well written, sounds like something one would lazily play in the back of a salon, I will note your inspiration for the ad lib section, I feel more could be done with that. Maybe some more chromaticism and embellishments if your going for a more romantic feel. It sounds superb though so don't take my word as gospel.

One serious recommendation, possible lengthen it, modulate and explore your ideas, it's a fantastic statement. you could do a lot with it.

Sorry for the late reply. I haven't logged on here in a while. If you're still doing concerts, thank you! It's an honour to have one of my pieces performed.

Yes, that's indeed a very chopin-like composition. And thanks for the references, I start playing it before reading at the text and thought immediately in E-flat Chopin's Nocturne...

I find Chopin's harmony quite complex, so congratulations, your really got the style.

It sounds very nice, but I would just make it longer
