The Blue Petal Waltz

Featured Replies

A short little waltz I made up. It’s no “Blue Danube” but it is blue. Done in the piano roll of Sonar 8.5.

I love this!  It has some beautiful phrases and modulations and unexpectedly beautiful harmony!  And you create some wonderful contrasts between major and minor sections before returning to the original key - very nice!  Why does it say you're a Starving Musician still?  You have four pips there Lieutenant Commander!  Thanks for sharing!

Very nice! It has a kind of "dirty" sound very interesting.

Yeah what? Shouldn't he be categorized as an "intermediate composer"?

This makes me think of a medieval castle. Very nice

Luis Hernandez,

Just wondering if by "dirty" you mean the hissy mellotron flutes (the "um-pa-pa"). The annoying hiss is noticeable at the beginning. It's part of the sampled instrument. I tried a different mellotron flute library that I have and it too has a hiss so I'm thinking maybe the actual real mellotron itself has a hiss on the flutes. I eliminated part of the hiss only by substituting the lowest notes on the um-pa-pa with a real flute sample in my East West orchestral library. Unfortunately there is still some hiss from the mellotron part. So is that what you meant by "dirty" or are you referring to the mood of the piece itself?

Thanks for your feedback.

-Rick
