Favorite film music tracks ???

So I did a quick search for "film music" in the content titles only and surprisingly didn't find a thread for ppl's favorite film music tracks.  So if you have (individual tracks - don't post the whole soundtrack LoL) favorite film music you'd like to share with the rest of your fellow Young Composer film enthusiasts, reply here!  I'll start with this track from the original Jurassic Park movie - Dennis steals the embryo - music by John Williams.  I love the quiet intensity of this track with its midi trombone that was probably state-of-the-art at the time!  LoL

No it will not be. Not if I post often. I appreciate enough John Williams stuff of course, but I do not worship the man. I am well verse in all film music and am a damn huge fan of it all. Honestly, making posts in this thread that come from my true opinion wouldn't even lead to a 33% John Williams saturation level.

I will head towards some of my favorite moments in music that just happen to be film scores first. This is one of the single most enthralling compositions in the history of the art form:

You probably already know that I dislike film music, hence rarely watch films. I'm more tempted to turn the sound off and bash out a tune on the piano like the old fashioned silent movies!!

But my favourite music written for a film was Villa-Lobos' work for Green Mansions. Unfortunately, the maestro couldn't adapt to the way Hollywood works, treating his music with ignorance and only a little of his score was actually used. He converted his work into a large Suite "Forest of the Amazon." (Floresta do Amazonas).

It contains one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard.

I'll probably be able to think of other film scores I actually liked, enjoyed, at some point.

A really great battle music track that actually manages to stay thematic is this one from David Arnold's Stargate soundtrack.  It's got some really crazy parts for the brass and horns specifically:

I have not noticed film music much since I don't like film music at all. However I freakingly like this one in Kieslowski's "Three Colours: White":

The music is so philosophical and ....great!!!! It uses tango to signify the "battle" relationship between the main character and his wife concerning "equality", which also signifies the political relationship of France, or Western richer European countries, and Poland, less rich European countries. Very enjoyable music as well!

Other soundtracks by Preisner in the other two "Three Colours" is great as well. But this is my favourite one. I seldom admire a film music track as if it's a classical one but this one can!

P.S. Looks like I am ignoring the trend in this thread too!!!

One of my favorite tracks from the movie "Don't Look Up" - it just gives me a feeling of inevitable doom LoL

I'm a big fan of 'old' movies, I find very enjoyable the whole ost of barry Lyndon, but it is all classical pieces 😅

I also love the soundtrack by Secret Garden in Wong Kar Wai's film 2046. Secret Garden said that the theme is influenced by Bach and I absolutely agree with that, given how succinct, concise and beautiful the counterpoint is in the theme:

Since the full score of "Sphere" by Elliot Goldenthal isn't on YT, I found this great unreleased Orchestral Suite of themes from the whole movie which I think is really great (the best part is at the very end - an adaptation of the track "The Gift"):

This track from The Batman Returns features high string glissandi that sound very cat-like:  Selina Transforms (Pt. II)

I have just watched Bon Joon Ho's Mother (2006) and it's amazing:

The music begins at 3:05 but the whole scene is fxxxingly beautiful! I can never appreciate film music alone without the film itself since the music is just an integral part of the film. Just like Stravinsky's Rite I always have to have the dances in my mind.

I have just thought of another one: I freakingly love Orson Welles’s adaptation of Kafka’s The Trial and I especially love the lead Anthony  Perkins since he is also the lead in Hitchcock’s Psycho. For me the film is not quite faithful to what Kafka wanted to say, but I love both interpretations of the same themes. The music in the film is Albinoni’s Adagio and oh my god, it’s so fxxxingly beautiful to show the nihilistic isolation and solitude of a man under the absurd bureaucracy and modern world now!

The first time I heard this piece I thought I was listening to Prokofiev - "The Cottage in the Woods" from Sleeping Beauty:

I find it's melody entrancing, unusual in its chromaticism and intriguing.

Edit:  I actually found out that the music for this movie was adapted from Tchaikovsky!

Sometimes I wonder why there are so many great existing music to use and directors just choose to use cliche ones… I always like how Stanley Kubrick creatively use classical music in his films!

I really like film music and in many instances, I don’t see it as a distinct genre from classical because several great classical composers also wrote music for film which is played alongside their non-film (like Prokofiev and lieutenant kije), the forces and style are often very similar and in its greatest instances I think film music can achieve the same depths and heights as great classical compositions, and furthermore, there is a very direct evolution from Wagner and incidental music towards cinematic music, as they are fundamentally the same concept.

With that said, it can also be really cheesy and cliche, especially today.  Nevertheless I have a lot of “highlights” from the genre…in the interest of restriction I’ll just pick one for today.
