July 19, 20223 yr This is a piece I wrote a long time ago. Was originally for piano solo; but I rearranged it more recently for vocal chorus, with harp and drawbar organ. Not sure it has any merit! Edited July 19, 20223 yr by Alex Weidmann
July 19, 20223 yr Author I don't have a proper score yet; but here's a very basic one from the original midi version of the piano piece. Edited July 19, 20223 yr by Alex Weidmann
July 19, 20223 yr Interesting piece! I enjoyed the spontaneous harmonies and chord progressions. As a choral work, however, it is completely unsingable. Would you mind elaborating on how you chose your harmonic language here? I didn't really detect a pattern to the various chords, but I'm also not the best score analyzer, lol. A colorful and enjoyable ride. Thanks for sharing!
July 19, 20223 yr Author It was probably just a product of my crazy hormonal teenage brain! Would've also been influenced by the wide repertoire of classical piano works I was playing at the time. This was just the first section of the piece. The rest was based on Chopin's Revolutionary Study; but I never got round to digitising that part. Guess I didn't really think about whether it could actually be performed by a choir. I just thought it would sound spooky and atmospheric in a vocal arrangement.
July 19, 20223 yr Wow, I love the harmonies here. They're crazy and puts you on other world. But yes, I don' think this can be sung, either. The harp and the organ are good choices, but perhaps it would work or a string orchestra (instead of that chorus).
July 19, 20223 yr Author So glad you liked it! Here's a basic rendition with strings replacing the chorus.
