Feelin' Good (for Saxophone Quartet)

Featured Replies

Hi! I'd like to share my another chamber piece (saxophone quartet) for your comments...

Actually I wrote this piece inspired by Jazz or Bebop I've enjoyed listening since my childhood... Although this piece is not exactly in jazz or bebop style, I just tried to express in music my feeling after listening to lots of music from Charlie Parker, Dizzie Gillespie, etc...

Also, the score is in C but I'd like to make part scores too after getting done with full score version...

Thanks so much for your help!

Edward

This is great music. I particularly like the sort of contemporary counterpoint you have built, which sounds excellent.

I'm surprised more people haven't commented on this. I like the Stravinsky type of vibes. Lots of cool rhythms and horizontal interplay. I really enjoyed the swells in chords too, like when most or all the instruments play a chord but they don't all start at the same time. Awesome work!

I think thanks to the fact that you wrote this inspired by jazz, it's quite funky and groovy.  So much modern music doesn't ever build a groove or a unique rhythmic identity which I think you did well with this piece.  It is quite interesting harmonically too.  Great job and thanks for sharing!
