Thanks, James! I got it done in 2 hours, then shipped her over to Marius. 2 hours after that (with some sexxxy Marius-inputs) we had ourselves a sweet new track. :D

Very Nice marius. I'm still crying. :D

... so beautiful.

Thanks, Alex, just remember that this isn't my project alone - Evan here is with me and we're working on it together about 50/50.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it though!

Hey all, new update. Hot off of Finale! As always, Marius and I would love to get your comments/critiques/etc. on everything... so please do so. Anyways, this is "Credits."

Enjoy! :P

-Credits-

I've listened to a couple.

I really like the main theme; the best part about it, in my opinion, was the timing of the sections. A main theme for a game is like a mini-overture; to me the Metal Gear Solid theme that plays at the opening montage of MGS2 is a perfect specimen of the three-minute overture whose sections are just the right length. I was comparing your work to that as I listened, and it measures up quite nicely!

The pirate theme was good, as well, and I hope that pirates are a main feature of this mod. Because you know the vi-VI-I-V theme is the universal theme for "this is important and inspirational" in movies, games, and whatever else. :-) Great work.

Hey everyone, I threw this together this afternoon as another test of my new sound library! It's the first in a slew of new stuff that Evan and I are working on so expect some new stuff soon :)

This is just a 30-second ending cue, still neat though.

Recent events compel me to make a rather drastic change in my lifestyle, and as such I must announce that I will no longer be working with Evan on this project.

This may or may not be a temporary decision, but at the moment I cannot have such a major project to work on. I will still help out and such, but it's all Evan from here.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

He's more than capable - it was pretty much all him before too. :D

Thanks, guys. Marius - you contributed a hell of a lot to the project, so don't say that! :D Hopefully you'll be back soon enough to continue writing. There's always a spot on the Blackwater Isle team for you.... and in my heart ;)

Hey all - Since Marius is currently not working on Blackwater Isle, there is a few pieces that had been completed (on my part) that I'll be posting now. I'll try and get some of the others posted later, but for now, here is Battle Theme 1 and The Pirate's Cave!

-Battle Theme No.1-

-The Pirate's Cave-

I don't often come into major works but I certainly believe that this belongs here and not in incidental music.

My favourites are hero's hymn and battle theme one, battle theme sounded very lotr to me, love it.

on listening again, I'm really likeing until death

Hey everyone... some updates over here for Blackwater Isle. I've just added The Break of Blackwater and Dreary Caverns.

You can find them in the original post, or right here.

-The Break of Blackwater-

-Dreary Caverns-

Thanks, and enjoy!

Hello there Evan,

You know, throughout listening to these, I couldn't help but feel a strong sense of familiarity...it's almost as though I've worked with these themes before...somewhere...in a past life...perhaps...;)

Anyway, The Break of Blackwater was quite pretty. There were some parts where I thought it dragged on a little without doing much, like from 1:30 onwards was a little dull. Why not throw some woodwind accents up on top of those pedal tones?

The caverns are creepy and atmospheric - I think the mood works very well. The bass drum hits and woodwind accents are my favourite part, they add some great flavouring. My advice: make it longer and add some subtle swells with the bass drum.

Overall, another successful couple of tracks! :D Soon, perhaps I shall return...;)

Hey Marius..I hope you don't mind this non review question... But this music your writing wouldn't have anything to do with the original Xbox game Oblivion: The Elder Scrolls, would it - I mean - the new extension?

Edit: Oops! Just read first thread again. What an honour. That's an awesome game.

*sigh*....I'm writing the music too....

But yes, it is a mod for Oblivion that was released on Xbox 360 and PC earlier in 2006.

Marius - yes, isn't that weird how they seem so familiar? :P

I definitely see what you mean about both pieces - I'll see what I can do to spice The Break of Blackwater up, and I'll elongate Dreary Caverns.... touche, Marius, touche...

Hey fellow composers/musicians/lurkers,

I've just finished the 2nd exploration theme for Blackwater Isle which is entitled The Secret Isles. I've posted the link below. Please tell me what you think. :D

-The Secret Isles-

Ok, I've just finished another theme for the game. This is the main theme for Blackwater City. It will be heard while the player is roaming about Blackwater City -- hence its title. :D

Enjoy! Maybe some critiques/comments?

-Blackwater City-

Very pretty, Evan. It reminds me of Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Sounds like Soule is what it sounds like :D

Very nice; what happened to inspire you to use so much piano since I left? Everything's you've done since has featured a leading role for the piano! :D

Anyway, this is a little too sombre and "small" for how I had envisioned the city, but perhaps that's just my perception. I think it could have been a bit more large and significant considering this is supposed to be the main city of the island.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Keep working, bud! ;)

Marius,

I have no idea why I've all of a sudden started using the piano in blackwater isle... I guess I just started seeing how it could enhance this style of music... I'd written a lot of solo stuff for me to play on piano, but never really used it in an orchestral setting (when not the soloist). It really adds a nice mood to the music, I think.

You're right in saying that Blackwater Isle is the main city, and it may be a bit too "small"... Gajakk and Me (project leaders for those of you who aren't on the Darkwater team :P) wanted something relatively mellow with piano in it (they specifically asked for the piano). Anyway, but pleasing them is my job :).

I'll try and have some more pieces up later this week (exams are about to rape me).... and Marius, I need to ask you a couple questions next time I speak to you.

I know you all are probably sick of having a new piece every few days, but hey! I'm on a roll -- so cut me some slack!

Anyways, this is the third cave theme for Blackwater Isle. You'll note that I took Marius' suggestion on the bass drum swells - they really help to create a more "cave-like" atomosphere - Thanks Marius.

-Into the Crypts-

Wow, a never-dying thread, how many tracks to you guys have so far? 30?

hahahhaha

It really is, though, in the sense that I keep writing more and always having to post them -- though I'm not sure why I'm posting them other than to show off the work, at this point...

Though, you'll all be happy to know that there are only about 7-10 remaining tracks left to write for the game. It's at 19 tracks now, James.
