VERY nice. A pleasure to listen to. I wish the "player" had a timer so I could comment about certain highlights. Never mind.

It was breathtaking as a whole but I loved the second verse and upsurge in the music on 'ich habe Liebe....' And the intensity of the close.

A wonderful work, thoroughly professional, as was the recording.

Are we to be treated to more of it?

This piece is of an entirely different caliber from anything else I've heard on this site yet. At the very least, it's the best recording I've heard yet on this site. Is there a score available?

This piece is haunting, and I loved every moment. There were a few outstanding moments that actually had me turn my head and look at the computer screen as if I was going to find something more there. Great work!

Wow, wow, and wow. The third movement of the symphony is incredible! You seem to have a busload more expierence than some of us here (myself included).

I particularly like the passage around 1:15 through 1:55, I think that was one of my favorite parts of the movement.

Are we going to hear more of this great stuff?

please leave the score attached for a while. I'm having trouble accessing it - I think it's my computer or the transmission because it gets so far then stops. I tried a couple of times and it stops at different points. Either that or I get a "pdf error". So I'll try very early in the (my) morning.

Yes, I think it is explorer.

Huhhhh, I never wondered why I use it. I'm not really an internet person. I used to be but things have changed so I don't go to Ravenholme too often! (To quote Afterlife II!!!) There's this thing in my "unused icons" called Mozarella Firefox. Is that what you mean? I don't really want to fire up a new piece of software just to read one file. :D

I have studied Mr Brandes' work as best I can without a score. I can relate it (generally though not stylistically) with other choral/orchestral scores I know/studied, like frinstance, Holst's Choral Symphony....though of course, I don't want to delve too deep in case I wreck the magic, if that makes sense.

A nice lyrical and dramatic composition. I do like the combination of expression between the composition and the soloist.

Hi there, this is a truly beautiful work that you should be incredibly proud of. The orchestral texture is so well handled and I loved the use of solo instruments, particularly the solo oboe which you write for magnificently. It reminds me a little of gorecki third symphony, if you know it? I think really there is very little i can advise you on, you clearly know what you are doing. From a notation point of view, I would suggest writing the timpani rolls with lines through the notes like trems rather than the exact note value as you have done as it looks like a bit of a big moment musically when in fact it is just a roll. This of course is me trying hard to find fault, essentially it is a beautiful work and I wish you well with all future composition.

I am truly beyond words. I feel awestruck and, although the beginning wasn't very convincing, the music evolved into such a dramatic, passionate entity, that I felt every note in my heart. This is a true masterpiece, my friend, and I am without excuse for NOT having discovered it earlier...

Absolutely wonderful! Enjoyed the first and second movement - especially the "laughing"! Though, the third movement is my favorite. It, lightly, reminds me of Brahms. I also enjoyed reading your score while listening. Well written string textures and wind passages abound.

I'm listening to the first (and I believe second movements), and I can't believe it, when I think the song has reached a point absolute relief, I am corrected by what always seems to come next! It's amazing! The composition is so blissful, but simultaneously contradicts the peace with what seems to me arrogance and a slight overwhelming ensemble of confidence! I love this! The oboe and flute parts are ingenious and really feels like, as your listening, that they are leading you down a continuous road--and I especially love the vocals; normally I'm not one for German, but this completely has turned my thinking! It's beyond divine! I only wish I could open the score to view it, but it comes up as a "page cannot be found" display.

But nonetheless, it's breathtaking....
