Polaris Posted September 10, 2024 Author Posted September 10, 2024 Not entirely happy with these, but I'll post them anyway: Quote
Polaris Posted October 17, 2024 Author Posted October 17, 2024 I composed this short piece today. It was largely an experiment. Quote
Polaris Posted October 17, 2024 Author Posted October 17, 2024 So far, this is the best canon I've written: Quote

Polaris Posted Saturday at 02:11 AM Author Posted Saturday at 02:11 AM I designed a wonderful computer, still a work in progress, that helps me with music composition. I put in a melody, and it elaborates on this melody by changing it up and adding harmony and counterpoint as rich and dense as I wish it to be. It's still in an early stage of development, but the results are extremely promising. I have indeed hit upon some of the deepest secrets behind music composition, after years of studying, experimenting, and thinking about the nature of music. Here is an early song my computer program and I composed. More and better is yet to come: Quote
Polaris Posted Saturday at 07:28 AM Author Posted Saturday at 07:28 AM Over the last couple of hours, I have vastly improved on the functioning of the program I designed. Here is a sound file to prove it: Quote

Henry You're right; there was no melody. Due to an error in my code, the input melody got translated into a sustained unison throughout the entire piece. I fixed that problem. Now, as you can see in this five-voice piece, there is some melody involved, albeit only simple melody because I'm still in the testing phase: Edited Saturday at 12:36 PM by Polaris Quote
Polaris Posted Saturday at 07:02 PM Author Posted Saturday at 07:02 PM It's getting better and better. Have a listen to the work of me and the latest iteration of the program I designed: Quote
Polaris Posted Sunday at 05:11 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:11 PM My program is approaching its final iteration as I continue to experiment and learn more about music composition. Here's an even better piece yet. Note that only one melody was provided by me; all the rest were calculated by my program, the most salient being the uppermost voice (the others are a bit faint, though; I probably should have emphasized their volume. Oh well, I can do that when my program gets even better): Quote
Polaris Posted Sunday at 05:19 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:19 PM Whoops, I made one mistake in the melodic dictation. The fixed version will be coming in a few minutes. Quote
Polaris Posted Sunday at 06:27 PM Author Posted Sunday at 06:27 PM (edited) Here is the fixed version of the piece my computer program and I created. I gave it a melody, and it provided the counterpoint and harmony. Edited Sunday at 06:33 PM by Polaris Quote
Polaris Posted Sunday at 11:29 PM Author Posted Sunday at 11:29 PM I really need a way to enter melodies into my program efficiently and without error. The previous upload had several mistakes in it. Here's another version in another key (key affects the nature of the output), with the errors in the melody input fixed: Quote
Polaris Posted yesterday at 09:20 AM Author Posted yesterday at 09:20 AM Here's the longest piece I've ever written, thanks in part to the computer program I designed: Quote
