Dear all,

(Composer's note: Below Message from Nov 2025)

Spoiler alert: It is a Christmas song. I will still write a "classical" Christmas piece but I got this idea first. Please feel free to enjoy it anytime you want.

Recently I saw a new DAW software with good AI voices (Disclaimer: just voice, not the writting part), so I wanna test it out and write a sample song for it. That turns out to be excellent (overall speaking), but sometimes the lyrics are not clearly pronounced. I might write more chroal piece with this great tool now. Feel free to tell me how it sounds!

Overall structure of the song:-

  • Orchestation: SATB + Violin
  • "Quasi-Rondo" form: ABABCABA’
  • Strategy: Since it is meant to be a pop song, more direct development to "chorus"
  • Some fun modulations involved

I would have so much fun with this tool. But you wrote a fun song with bold key changing and fun harmony. I like how the violin creates friction, but only through your modulations. You then normalize the harmony once SATB comes in. You are right, the lyrics are sometimes a bit garbled, but I would say it's about 90% accurate. It doesn't matter though, most people will get the idea. The lyrics may be less accurate than Suno in terms of vocals, but the trade-off is that you get 100% compositional freedom.

Haha, the guy with its elaborate atonal string orchestra pieces (to be honestly, I only mean and know your „Aos Si“ submission to the Halloween competition) uses AI!

But that’s exactly the point, you used AI assistance only for the vocals (and I must admit that the result of the „Suno“ use in the other pieces is more polished), the composition is your own and you perfectly contrast the tendency of the AI to produce an „average pop song“ with your sometimes dissonant modulation in the strings part.

A good example how AI could be used seriously without losing the fun and creativeness of own compositions!

Hi @HoYin Cheung!

I think this one can easily be written to an A capella vocal piece with the addition of a bass voice. The modulations are interesting to listen to, and the original E major is actually returned at the end! As long as everything is written by yourself, using AI to generate the soundtrack wouldn't be a problem at all, since it's just a way to realize the piece you originally created.

Hello again @HoYin Cheung!

I think this is far from a pop song!  And I think that's a good thing.  Maybe the modulations are quite direct, but the style of it is still very classical to my ears.  Does your new vocal DAW software that you used to create this support different languages or just English?  Cuz I wrote three Christmas Mash-ups this Christmas and I can't help but wonder if it could be used to realize some of them.  One of my Mash-ups (No.3) is all in English, but the other two mix Polish, Latin and English.  Thanks for sharing this warm choral song!

Thank you all for listening. Seems that I failed to write a proper pop song, but something belongs to me! haha.

I mainly used this >>ACE Studio<< DAW where I can use AI sounds with different style (pop/ classical, female and male), and they have violin sound library, too.

(No sponser/ advertisement here, I am just here to show you if you are interested)

@PeterthePapercomPoser Yes, you can make it work in different languages. You input notes and add lyrics accordingly. Then the software will automatically transform them into syllables. While the system only support English and Mandarin (?) at this stage, you can trick the system by manipulating the syllables despite the "wrong" spelling (that's how I dealt with the strange pronounciations). Let's dm for more details.
