January 10Jan 10 Hello! Here's a funeral march type piece. Form and harmony are very static and simple, in Fm with an A | A1 | A2 form. Hope you enjoy, and as always, any comments are welcome 🙂
January 10Jan 10 Hello @Thatguy v2.0 After I thoroughly listen to the piece, here are my thoughts. Playability: The prelude is certainly playable for pianist at late intermediate through late advance skill level. Everything is well marked throughout the score. (There are no questions about the accidentals). Motive(theme): The theme is well devolved thorough out the piece. Harmony: The harmonic colors underlaying the minor theme create sense melachony. 🙂 Form: A, A1. A2 is well done. Tone(taste): This piece reminds me of Pictures of exhibition in some way. I love Mussorsky works. 🙂
January 12Jan 12 Yo Vince, I really love the sensitivity of the harmony in this one. I love the constant false relation of Eb and E in b.4 and subsequent bars. There's real pain in this one whether it's personal or worldwide issue, and it's painful to play as well. Thx for sharing and hopefully writing this helps. Henry
January 12Jan 12 The slowly moving bass chords sound like they would tell a wondrous, but very sad tale. It feels like you mix a more modern handling of dissonances etc with romantic traditions, and this makes the prelude very colourful. At least many shades of grey. The build-up to m.27 is especially nice. The form also works well for this short piece. Thanks for sharing!

January 14Jan 14 Author Updated the mp3 with Henry's performance. If anyone's interested, he didn't listen to the mp3 render first 😄 Henry = 🔥

January 14Jan 14 As usually @Henry Ng Tsz Kiu piano emotion depth is enjoyable. You can hear phrasing, dymanics, and thematic material that pianist would create using their emotions.

I didn't think much when playing as I was easily moved by Vince's music and all the details came from my mind through my hands! Henry
January 15Jan 15 Very nice piece, with the cross relations between E and E flat. And very nice performance by Henry, as usual. Well done to both of you!
