Samuel_vangogh Posted Wednesday at 05:19 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:19 PM After I while withouth posting anything, I decided to share these two lieder that I wrote for my Harmony lessons. I tried using a chromatic language and I really like the results (although my teacher always finds errors in everything), what do you think? Luis Hernández Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago The first composition is very beautiful, both the melody and the accompaniment, which I find very romantic in style. What I am not quite sure about (as I am no expert in this field) are the bowing indications in some bars (such as bar 12). Quote
Wieland Handke Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Hello @Samuel_vangogh, I very enjoyed listening to both songs (or „Lieder“ 😄). They both have a calming, somewhat melancholic mood. Yes they are „romantic“ but not in a sense of being to „sweet“, but are charming with the harmonic colors you achieved by introducing cromaticism and dissonances in a well balanced amount. I like, that you’ve spend the efforts required to have a realistic sound impression by applying changes in the tempo and dynamics. As I’m not looking with a teacher’s eye seeking for „errors“, the only thing I noticed that there were at the end of „Ophelia“ some intervals I would feel very uncomfortable to play on the piano.
