MusicXML - The stem of a quarter note a bit too long ( actually very long)

Featured Replies

MusicJotter looks really great so I feel a bit guilty by reporting this cosmetic thing, but as you can see in the picture a quarter note got a very long stem.

Maybe it can be easily fixed. Keep up the great work !!!!

Don't feel guilty, this is why I am releasing early access. I need users to report every single issue with the software before I can actually feel comfortable releasing this to more users. This issue is not a quarter note problem, its more of a quantization issue. If you can provide me with a pdf or image of what the score should look like, I will analyze what's going on with the data.

Some quick tips, flip a stem with "f", beam notes by hovering over them and pressing "space" or "b". If you flip the stem, notice how the notes to its right also flip. This means Music Jotter is connecting these notes as one beam, but its glitching out because the timestamps are not quantized correctly.

This is the original score. However going through midi destroys a lot of the score information, so I did not expect Music Jotter to generate back from midi a score like the original.

I see thanks. This actually might be a case for the outdated MusicXML. I can try to clean up the midi export, but my time might be better spent on a MusicXML importer. Because Music Jotter has such an extensive data architecture, it can in theory map MusicXML pretty well. Can you export the MusicXML of this piece?

I agree that a musicxml importer would be a much better investment. I will be happy to help you test such an importer.

Perfect, I'll pin this as a TODO. This shouldn't be too bad, but it is a bit more than a bug fix (this is more like a feature request). So I will move this over to the feature request forum.

  • chopin changed the title to MusicXML - The stem of a quarter note a bit too long ( actually very long)
