Faust

You say you're a video game music composer, and if I am honest, that is exactly what it sounded like to me. I hope you take this as a compliment, because much of my early exposure to music came through television, video games and the like.

The piece would easily be at home on the silver screen, or indeed on the computer screen. Not once did I hear a questionable use of orchestration or motive, never was there a moment of boredom or motionless. I would however not listen to this without something else. . . it feels more like an accompaniment to something than a standalone piece - I mean this in no pejorative sense. It really is beautiful.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

Yes, for a future film composer, your comments are definitely taken as compliments!

Stay tuned for more! :)

Really great job Marius! Going along with what everyone else has been saying and adding something- I don't think any incidental program music should stand by itself. If it was made to go along with any kind of action it should only add to that, not take the spotlight. Allow me to explain, though. Marius' piece might end up as background music of a movie about Faust, but if it ends up being played as a soundtrack on someone's iPod, it could work just as well. Music tells a story with or without the actors. I think this music does a pretty good job of leaving the action up to (a) directors and actors and the like, or (b) the listener's imagination. For example, I LOVE sitting down and listening to the soundtrack of Kingdom of Heaven. Even though I've never seen the movie, the music does an amazing job of painting a picture of what's happening along with the title of the piece. Marius' music is right up there with the best  I've got nothing to say but encouragement
