Age Of Chivalry Theme

Hello there :)

I don't have much time to comment in depth on this song now, but I'll give you my impressions as best I can.

First off I love the sounds, it's quite nice quality and would sound perfect if it weren't drowning in reverb in some parts. I love the subdued feel, though I'm not sure it works as a theme song because of it. I'd be curious to see at what point this plays because most of it really doesn't sound like the kind of thing to play at the title.

Musically, I really like the theme. You combine a few genres brilliantly to give a very pleasant-sounding mix of ideas that come together perfectly. The entry to the flute part (with the bass line) just before 0:30 is very well done, very smooth and the flute itself works very nicely. You build up to the climax failrly well and carry it out impressively, but afterwards for the ending I have some comments to make. Firstly, it feels like the drop-off to the harp near 2:00 is too abrupt. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not but for me it really sounds off. Since the rest of the piece flows so well, that sudden dropoff sounds out of place. Lastly the ending itself seems somewhat anti-climatic but I suppose that could very well have been intentional.

Very good work! :)

What a pleasant piece! I'd love to play a game with this music as a theme!

The sound was very good, the melodies and the feel are totaly knight-y, so an astonishing atposphere job! I couldn't say anythig bad about the piece even if it tried to. i loved all instrument entries, changes even sudden ones.... a great work! keep composing!

Hey thanks alot for the very nice comments guys! I really appreciate you taking the time to listen. :D .

Jeff

I love te moody introspective opening. From all those movies set in the Middle Ages, this borrows a couple of the techniques that distinguish the soundtracks there form everything else. I am reminded a bit of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, but I cannot quite say why.

This music is far more stirring, of a knight on horseback astride a hillock looking over a forested valley. At least that is what I felt from it.

Nice work! I look forward to hearing more!

While I like how you keep adding on and changing the accompaniment of the theme, I'd also liked to have too seen more development in the theme itself; at least have it resolve itself by the end, no? I didn't really like the bass drum sample, either - it sounded like some of the higher frequencies were cut-off. Other than that, though, it's a pretty nice.

hey Matusleo, thanks alot for the great feedback mate! Glad you enjoyed the piece! spc1st as far as the bass drum sample - its actual not a bass drum lol its a Taiko section which is why it has no high end on the hits. I didnt do normal a resolve as I like leaving things a bit open to add a final resolve into another track picking back up upon the theme again. Anyways thanks for the comments and for listening! ;)
