Mark
Hello all Thanks to a few members of this site (namely juji, evan and nico) I've been branching out in my listening and trying new things. I've found I really like Rimsky Korsakov, could anyone recommend some composers in a similar sort of vein? Thanks, Mark
Guest CreationArtist
If you like Nikolai look into the other members of the New Russian School. Also try Mahler (neoromantic technically, but still amazing).
Mark
are you referring to the 'big 5'? Thanks, I'll check out Mahler

Guest Anders
You've probably listened to the wrong recordings, I'd recommend Michelangeli: YouTube - Michelangeli plays Debussy To enjoy Debussy to the max, you should try to envisage the scenes he paints with his music- Trust me, it works! - his music becomes infinitely more inspiring to me when I employ this method. Try to search out some of the orchestral music as well, if you haven't already.

CaltechViolist
If you like what you hear of Brahms so far, start looking into his chamber music. I especially recommend his piano quintet and piano quartets.
violinfiddler
If you like Brahms, you'll like Dvorak and Schumann too.
CaltechViolist
Also, if it's OK to go into the slightly obscure, listen to some Rheinberger.

Debussy
Try listening to the symphonies of Bruckner's 4th,9th and Shostakovich 5th,9th and Prokofiev's 5th. Also Brahms' sonata's for solo instruments and piano, op.120 no.1 and no.2 for clarinet or viola, and two sontas for cello, and his string quartets. Also for late romantic, try Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, and his Pomp and Circumstance Marches.
