Australian Music Examinations Board

From Wikipedia

The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) is a privately funded corporation which assesses music, speech and drama in Australia. The organisation had its beginnings at the Universities of Melbourne and Adelaide in 1887; the organisation now has a Federal Office in Melbourne, and offices in each state.

In collaboration with teachers, parents and students, the AMEB syllabus writers create and publish syllabuses for educational purposes. Music syllabuses are available for most instruments found in the symphony orchestra and can be used for solo performances in concertos and examinations. The AMEB has also recently introduced a series of "for leisure" syllabuses for the piano which contain a repertoire of modern music. Syllabuses for Speech and Drama, as well as for Music Theory and Musicianship are also integral to the AMEB's curriculum offerings. AMEB graded examinations cover a large range of skill levels; from a "Preliminary" grade suitable for very young children through to the "Fellowship of Music", a degree that is often conferred on an honorary basis to musical luminaries.

Every decent musician can keep up a beat on the drums, I find.

I play piano. I don't work at playing as much as composing so I'm a bit behind considering how long I've been learning. But if I really work then I could have grade 8 by this time next year.

And I know a G and an A chord on the guitar (both major). Not wonderful for songwriting...

I think I'll create a custom profile field for everybody stating what instrument they play. How 'bout it?

EDIT: Done! Go to My Controls at the top, then Edit Profile Info on the left hand side to fill it in.

I actually disagree with the first part. Decent musicians can keep a beat, yes, but when it comes to playing the drums, this is a whole different task entirely.

I just love the process of discovery a new instrument, so I bought several instruments through the years, just I didn't succeed on all of them, I sold my trumpet because I couldn't play it, I tried for years but failed.

I'd love and English Horn, but must save money for now, someday maybe I'll buy one, I hope I can play it.

It would be weird to answer to this thread by saying "none". But that's pretty much my case. I'm at an intermediate level at best on a guitar (I do never practice) and not even up to a beginner level in a piano or keyboard. So in fact I've given up and focused on composition alone.
