Short Rhapsody for Woodwind Quintet

Featured Replies

Hello. :P

When I first started writing this, I was determined to write a little fugue. And then it got too old/frustrating for me, so I just made it into this and I quite like where it went.

I know that towards the end there seems to be a lot of new material, so if I ever rework it, I'll change the ending a bit to sum up the beginning as well.

I would also like some double reed players to give a look at the score and tell if anything is impossible or, at least, very hard.

This is probably one of the first pieces that I've written that I've had fun the entire time I wrote it, which is a plus :w00t:

Hope you enjoy!

Oh myyy, it's great. I really like this piece. It's really fun and creative.

I doubt it would be hard for anyone to play.

It's very original. Which is why I like it so much.

Good job.

Well I'm a bassoonist so I'll analyze the bassoon part. After seeing the score I didn't see anything that hard. It never went that high or low.

my ONE complaint, because I really liked this - it was lots of fun, is to WRITE A FLUTE PART AT MEASURE 7!!!!

Don't just let the flute drop out as the texture thickens like that. It's fine that you drop to lighter textures, two, three instruments in the measure that follow, but the disappearance of the flute just as it reaches the climax of texture-intensification is very, very "meh".

Thank you so much for commenting. I was actually going to PM you to say something about it because I kinda wanted you to rip it to shreds, but whatever. I'll definitely work on that, and now I see what you mean. But, thank you!

And thank you to Mitchell and cello-fellow. I was just thinking it was hard maybe because of the runs/jumps. But, like I said, I know close to zip about bassoon.
