Piano Dance

This was a piece that i wrote for the piano a while ago, and it started out being a piece that I could actually play too, but then I just let my imagination evolve it beyond my abilities. I like it hahah. It is one of my more simplistic compositions but I still enjoy listening to it for its free, dancelike quality.

well, any feedback would be appreciated :)

I really liked the beginning, although there was a tad too much dissonance for my liking.. Not properly resolved perhaps? Or were those on purpose? I still don't have finale installed yet because my comp has just been reformatted, so I can't see what the notes are.

Some of the left hand chords are kinda heavy and low, which drags on the piece, making it losing some of its "danceability"... Well, that's just my comments..

Although I have a few issues, the chords that are interjected at times seem rather percussive, not that that's a bad thing. But sometimes it makes for a jarring listening expierience. Also it didn't quite resolve all the way, which kind of left me feeling rather akward. IMO you could've done a little more work with the ending. I review better with a score but seeing as there isn't one I'll leave it at that

weird, it didn't seem that dissonant to me. Rather, it was far to slow to be a dance, and was very sparse in texture. This is a very simple piece, and for a pianist good enough to be premiering solo works, I'd submit they should be able to handle much more. Throw some runs or arppegios in there, as some interesting rhythmic grooves to give it more of a "dance" feel.

It wasn't slow for, say, a tango. I liked it. Don't misinterpret earlier comments—consider the "dance music" of Astor Piazzolla, which was even bolder with both percussive chords and dissonance to great effect.

I liked the beginning, but then it the music seemed to lose it's focus, and there were a lot of dissonant notes thrown in there that didn't seem to resolve, or fit within the context of the piece.

I think that the overall idea of the piece was pretty cool though, I did like the "dark" feel of it. It kind of reminded me of medieval times, with a little latin thrown in there in the beginning. :)
