Bear March

Featured Replies

Hey,

finished this little piece today. Used mostly simple harmonies.

This piece is supposed to portray a bear march (like the name suggests) and the middle section is supposed to portray the birds singing

hope to gear your opinions

I think it sounds kinda tame for a bear march. (i think i feel this way because i've heard Bartok's bear dance before this).

either more speed, or more surprises in rhythm would do the trick i think...

but title aside its a nice piece :)

I had nicer bears in mind....heheeh :)

I meant bears in the heavy sense of the word, not in the wild man-eating sense.

but thank you for your comments

I found this to be pretty vanilla harmonically, but I think that's part of the style, so I'd try to make it more interesting via rhythm or melody. It just seems exceedingly simple, although if that's what you were going for than maybe it's just not my style.

I feel that if you are going for the simple feel then you should use more complex harmonies. That way it doesn't sound complex at first. Only when you look at it again does it reveal a little more depth. Otherwise it gets pretty boring.
