String Quartet Nos.1 & 4 (Op. 7 & 10)

Firstly, for tomorrow - Merry Christmas !

I was updating my Catalogue and I came across these Quartet's I had almost forgotten about. I'm posting My first Quartet Ever (String Quartet No.1 in C Major - Op.7) - Only 3 movements - Not too spectacular & String Quartet No.4 in B Minor - Op.10 - It's ok ...... not very well structured. Written in July & August 2004 respectively, these were written in my 5th & 6th month(s) of composition - a time when I was still finding my "Compositional Voice".

In the presto of the 4th quartet, there are triple stops! is that possible? especially going that fast! I don't think you want it rolled so I'm slightly confused.

Wouldn't that create more of a crunchy sound to reach all three strings?

Okie dokie. Is there any combination of notes that wouldn't work? Ha, I'm a cello player and I know when we played Vivaldi's winter that it had some pretty tough double stops(none of it being triple stops) Which I don't think the cello can perform triple stops without rolling!(unless of course you have your fingers so HIgh they are only a couple inches away from the bridge:))

Though good to know and to use, though I doubt I will be, though in me next quartet it I think it may fit:)

I agree with the fact that the counterpoint is Incorrect ....... and have been in my works untill Op.22........ but I doubt that a highly trained ear (like mine) and proper methods of composition I employ would ignore incorrect harmonies (if any), there could be a possibility you're reffering to the development, where there are some Cynical harmonies (Eg:Schubert's 4th Symphony - Last Movement - 2nd theme), definitely not incorrect . Do keep in mind the phase of composition it was written in !!
