There’s a lot of talk online about AI converting MP3 to MIDI. Some people say it works great. Others say it’s a complete mess. But honestly? I haven’t really seen anyone actually test it and share the results. So I got curious. I wanted to see for myself what AI can actually do with MP3 to MIDI. How far can it really go? So I decided to run a test and share what I found. I found a free online tool that claims to do the job. No sign-ups, no payment — just upload and go. The first thing I noticed: the website clearly said “no server, everything runs locally in your browser.” That’s pretty cool. I didn’t have to worry about my music leaking somewhere. I picked a random piano piece I had on my computer and uploaded it. Then the page asked me to select the instrument. Huh. Why do I need to pick an instrument? I guess it helps the AI figure out what to listen for? Maybe it improves the accuracy. I selected “Piano” and crossed my fingers. To my surprise, the conversion was actually pretty fast. I was expecting to wait a while, but it finished in seconds. The tool also let me listen to both the original and the MIDI version side by side. That made it really easy to compare. So, how did it go? Honestly, most of it was correct — but not all. There were a few wrong notes here and there. So AI isn’t perfect yet. But here’s the part that impressed me: it had a built‑in editor. I could click on the notes and fix mistakes directly in the browser. That’s super convenient. It kind of feels like the creators knew the AI wouldn’t get it 100% right. So they gave us the tools to clean it up ourselves. Smart move. So what’s my takeaway? AI can handle a solid chunk of the work — maybe 80–90% depending on the track. But it still makes errors. The good news is, with the built‑in editor, you can tweak things manually and export it right away. I might actually use this a few more times and see if it saves me time in the long run. I have Finale, Sibelius, and Doirco. I dislike subscption model with avid. However, you have free updates. Dorico you have to buy for the newest version. I dislike that. (this was similar with Finale). Dorico is very nuanced. But, there are resources out there to new users. Finale is still be used. But not by many. The industry is standard is either avid or Steinberg. But, I do not think no one anyone know what you will use.

Thanks Grant, I think the icy quality and low dynamics make it sound a bit like Koechlin; though that wasn't deliberate. The clumsy feel of the LH is probably down to the frequent fermatas, and time signature changes. I seem to have a problem sticking to a regular beat in my compositions, and end up tying myself up in knots! Then having to make loads of adjustments to make the rhythms sound natural. Maybe I should try to give the piece more structure; though I do already have a repetition of the opening theme in the middle, and near the end. So it's not completely without form.

Hello, It sort of sounds like a mysterious ice/cave level from a video game. As a side note, do you need all these time signature changes? Maybe just lots of fermatas, I don't know. I guess you probably need at least some of them. It feels like good background music. The chords are very pretty sounding :) The LH feels a bit clumsy sometimes...but not like in a bad way. I suppose it would be clumsy to get around in ice or a cave. So yeah, those are my thoughts. Overall, enjoyed it.

Well then you can take your gift a notch higher with some music/theory training. I wish I had that ability. Mark

Thx to me for recommending you this book 🤭 I think YC really helps my growth for composing, as it really gives me optimal experiences reading some of the best reviews on my own music which in terms motivates me to compose better. All the feedback I receive here are helping me achieve my own goal, which is to always improve my composing ability and hence to compose something really great in one day. Apparently its a "PHENOMENON"...........Im not the only one............My mother said it was a GIFT from God im an ex military child. and when we were Stationed at the American Air Base in Germany i was 5 years old, when i was lying on the floor listening to someone below, playing the Piano, i told my mother, that they were playing the wrong notes............she replied : " Well how would you know ? Alex, I enjoyed the interesting harmonies; however, I felt the structure of the work to be a bit loose. I had difficulty following a coherent theme and I felt the work didn't have an arch to it to carry me through from the beginning to the end. Mark

Yes , Its a Pre-Alpha Prototype system, that's aimed at TV-Networks, for film-scores-adverts,Documentary's, etc "Because your posted score seems highly unusual" Highly Unusual ? .........................ha ha ....that's the story of my life ! I cant read music...........if i hear a song i like on the radio a couple of times...............i can play it . I luv the Big Budget Action-Film scores, and once iv created a Rendition of something it becomes second nature to create My Own Compositions, based on a specific......... "Sound"

Hi to all musophiles! Just wanted to share my latest piano work, which was improvised around three chords. These were C major 7 sharp 11, E minor +6 +9, and B minor +9. The first two are from Howard Shore's score for "Lord of the Rings", and the last one is Ravel's favourite chord. I haven't put my phrasing slurs in yet; but it's otherwise maybe finished? Not sure if it's any good; or if I should just bin it? Have also included an earlier version (#34) that had an awkward passage one minute into the piece. I liked this material; but couldn't find a way to integrate it into the piece. It sounded rhythmically weird, no matter how hard I tried to make it work.
