  1. This is an ancient melody, spread from East Europe to West Asia. I love armenian chant, and I suppose I only know it in its "modern" version. I took this melody, which is, in fact, a monody, arranged it, added transition parts, harmonized and orchestrated it fully.
  2. Double fugue in gminor scored for 2x oboe, 2x bassoon in g minor. I think i will rearrange the fugue for two pianos... Written in the mid baroque style, so dont exptect those bach episodes 😉 Please telle me what you think. SimenN
  3. I said it was supposed to convey a foggy night, maybe it should be called a fogturne.
  4. Cool piece. I don't see why you couldn't call this a nocturne, the jazzy style certainly works wells to convey that type of ambience.
  5. This made me laugh But is that a bad thing? I guess it depends on what you're going for. Is does sound like that to me, but with a floaty harmony it's hard not to unless there were more changes in texture. If you're looking for ideas, maybe a bit more contrast would help with development? Or perhaps a more obvious motif in your melody? Something to catch the ear away from the chords? I found myself listening to the harmony and I felt like the melody could get buried underneath. Dunno, it's cool as is, but your comment made me feel like you were going for different vibes. Either way, great piece, and hopefully these suggestions help in further edits or future pieces.
  6. oh, I thought you were asking for a list of the modes ranked by their brightness and darkness. I get what you meant now.
  7. We kinda knew that already but the reason why I said "supposedly the brightest" is because these things can very often be subjective and some members on here have stated that to them even Lydian can sound pretty dark.
  8. I've taken a look at your scherzo for string orchestra. I love the theme and the chromaticism!
  9. Nice piece! Really like the contrast of dynamics at 0:18 and 1:11. It's fast paced and has a very energetic character.
