  1. This piece is beautiful. I enjoy the dissonance and suspense in some parts. I've never read the Hans Christian Anderson version of The Little Mermaid, but this piece adequately tells me the story.
  2. Congratulations on your acceptance into that Conservatoire! For being your first wind band piece, this is quite amazing. I enjoy how the music makes you feel something, and the use of percussion is quite skillful as well. Good luck on all your future endeavors!
  3. You did a great job on this. I think the part where some of the band plays just upbeats (around 1:09) may be a bit difficult, but I think the percussion writing was pretty good. Just try not to overuse cymbal like from 1:41-1:47. I think it may be better to have the whole band play the melody at forte rather than just the cymbal crashes, but that's just me. Overall, just know that beginning band writing is difficult and you are doing a great job!
  4. Hi everyone. I'm a composer who mainly writes piano and concert band music. Here is something that I have been working on. Please give me some critique if you have it, especially about the string parts because I don't know much about writing for them. Thanks in advance for listening! Hope you like it!
