  1. Ron there's no way I would accidentally mix up your music with someone else's. You definitely have a distinct musical identity. This piece is very mystical and ambient and could very well illustrate an Ice Castle. There's a lot of distorted melodies and I picture myself walking through the castle looking at my reflection being distorted off the glass like ice. As I have said before I really don't care for this kind of music, but I did like the part at 6:00, which toned down most of the craziness and had somewhat of a melodic identity. One thing I don't like is the EWQLSO gong. It sounds so cliche I hear it all the time. I typically like to modify it to where it's not easily recognized or use a different instrument to produce a similar effect. Anyways, keep up the good work Ron.
  2. Marius you sure know how to bring a guy down, but in a good way. So what suggestions would you give to make my strings and such sound more humanistic? I assume you know that I'm using EWQLSO Gold symphonic library. What things can you do to introduce those specific elements that you might suggest?
  3. Do you export individual track s to audacity or the whole thing as one file?
  4. You've mentioned you can get more volume using audacity. How do I do that in audacity?
  5. K, I tried some of the things we talked about Rolifer. Tell me what you think of the new version.
  6. Thanks Rolifer for the comments. Question, What is a volume envelope? Limiter for the Peaks? I'm completely ignorant to mixing. All I do is bring up the mixer in Sonar. Bounce all of my midi tracks into Audio. Play each one individually make sure it doesn't peak. And then play it all together and see if the master peaks. If it does I take the volume down.
  7. I like it. In the beginning, since there is a lot repetition (which is fine), I would suggest having your strings swell. The music definitely has that epic feel. The second part where it's bigger really sounds more regal and feels like it gives the character some sense of duty or honor. Keep up the great work.
  8. Here is an Action Cue I wrote. It sounds like it could work in a movie possibly more so a game. What I'm looking for is production advice. Mixing, etc. Other advice is welcome too. Time's up Time's up- New Version
  9. Sounds really good Marius. I can really tell your a fan of James Newton Howard.
  10. I went to the Kontakt site and I was confused at which program I needed. This will probably be the last question, which one do I need?
  11. Thanks Marius for the input. Since I know you know a lot about these subjects I'll ask you another question. To use the Drums of war and other cinesamples with a Daw like Sonar which runs with my EWQLSO plugins, do I need to get Kontakt or can it be used standalone like EWQLSO? And if I have to get Kontakt what exactly is it? I guess thats more than one question.
  12. Curious, what would be the EWQLSO equivalent to the Drums of war and Cinetoms? Are these better? Cheaper?
  13. They sound good and the price is cheap. That's all I can say with my limited knowledge
  14. You guys aren't giving me the answer I want. I want you to say that $100 will get me positive results. Oh well. Since you recommend spending a little more money what would you recommend in the $200 - $300 range in a normal room?
  15. Hey I don't know if this has been asked if it has just point me to the right thread. I'm looking for some music monitors for my computer. I'm looking to spend $100 max. I looked at bose speakers their cheapest is $99.00 their nicest is $400.00. Does anybody know if the $100 ones are good or of some that are better in that price range? Bose Speakers
  16. Rolifer I have enjoyed pieces of yours in the past but the majority your pieces sound really abstract, which people have pointed out and admire you for it. I just can't get into that kind of music and it doesn't fit right to me. However, these types of pieces might sound better when put in proper context like in a movie, game, etc. but stand alone it sounds too disconnected from itself and is hard to really enjoy. Like I said I have really enjoyed some of your music I just can't get into this kind of stuff.
  17. This is very well done. I can picture this during the game while your fighting. Except for the slow part. But very well done entertaining and well produced. Curious though, where do you plan on using this music in the game?
  18. Returning home- I liked the chord progressions. The sampler for the voice I would suggest maybe a single high pitched female voice. Whats left- Sounds really similar to returning home. Almost like this should be connected to the first song and not separate tracks. Trapped- I liked this one the most. Has more creativity and more distinct. Overall your first two pieces are ok, your third one is pretty good. It sounds like you didn't put much time into them as you stated you were just fooling around. They kind of remind me of Mark Snow's ambient music from the X-Files series.
  19. This piece wasn't designed for anything specific but it sound like something from a heavy drama like Seven Pounds. It's a simple minimalistic melody but I think it conveys the thought that there are heavy decisions that need to be made. Hence the name. Take a listen tell me what you think. Contemplation
  20. The trailer theme reminded me a lot of Requiem for a dream. Was the theme used as a temp track perhaps?
  21. I'm using Sonar 7 and EWQLSO Silver xp for my sounds.
  22. Well I have lots of options. I want to plug it into my computer for recording. I have a Creative X-fi, so I can do USB, 1/8 inch, optic. I don't really know if USB would be better than an 1/8 inch or what.
  23. Wow, I almost cried listening to this piece. Very beautiful and moving.
  24. I'm looking to purchase a microphone for recording vocals. I need something cheap but descent. If somebody could recommend a mic or could tell me what to look for in mic I would be grateful. thank you.
  25. Nathan- Your exactly right. This was my first piece that was composed entirely on my sequencer. I am completely ignorant to mixing. I have a vague idea of what it is and I know that it is a good thing to do but I don't know much about it. What resources would you recommend that would give me some insight on this?
