Supreme Commander Arrangement

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I haven't been writing too much music for ME lately, it's all been for various other projects or neglected entirely....

Anyhow, this is a new little thing I decided to start, so I figured I'd share it for any gamers out there who will probably agree that this game had a wonderful soundtrack (by Jeremy Soule).

This is the beginnings of my own arrangement of the themes from the game and I intend to continue it as soon as I get the time to - this is just the product of about an hour this afternoon, so there's plenty more to come.

Enjoy! :)

Supreme Commander Arrangement - eSnips, share anything

I enjoyed this piece. Very nice usage of percussion as usual. I have never heard the original piece before so I can't comment on which one I like better, but this definitely sounds good.

Are any of those percussion samples from storm drum?

Well if you'd like to hear it, let me know and I can send you a sample of some of the original material.

I'm glad you enjoyed the percussion, and yes, some of it is from Stormdrum. The earthquake taiko drums and the Sioux drum patches to be precise ;) The snare is a minorly modified patch from EWQLSO and so are the cymbals and other various toys.

Thanks for the comments! :)

Hey guys, I just updated the link - a bit more added (including a pretty cool percussion solo) in my spare time this afternoon :)

Why are you doing others material? I have heard your original stuff and I think it is better anyway.

I guess if you just want to play games with these works then okay. It is good stuff.

Well done

Ron

I liked it. I didn't think it was amazing but I thought it was a nice, solid piece. Not sure if I can offer any suggestions though.

Yeah, I know where you're coming from Ron but sometimes I like to work on re-telling a theme - helps me get better at writing my own stuff. It's as close as I ever get to doing an exercise I suppose :P

Thank you both for your comments! :)

Marius I agree with that... if anyone looked at all my compositions from beginning to end, they would probably notice this point where I just suddenly got exponentially better. The point where I got better also happens to be a point just after having not written any music for months, all I did was arrange various music for various ensembles. So I guess when I came back to composing original music, I found myself armed with a plethora of composition techniques that somehow leaked into me from doing all the arranging.

I'm not even going to comment on the arrangement, you know well the reaction I give to just about everything you write and arrange, it's all pretty flippin' sweet and I never get tired of it.

Thanks, James!

I think I'll probably have to finish this now that you've reminded me about it...:P I wish I had more free time...*Sigh*

ooo, very nice. I'm a big soule fan. I don't know which peice you are resetting but it might be listenable here: DirectSong

Yep, it's there. :)

I'm planning to include themes from the entire soundtrack, but I've started with the main theme itself - "Bellum Infinitus."
