Using EWQLSO help please???

Featured Replies

So I export my score from sibelius 4.1 to sony acid music studio which exports as a wav/ audio file. but it only allows me to insert EWQLSO as a soft sythn to midi files. Is there any way to covert my score from sibelius to midi istead of audio so I can apply EWQLSO???

all help is greatly appreciated:cool:

Um, yeah...save as a MIDI from Sibelius. I think it's done from File -> Export if I remember correctly. The manual is a great thing to read. ;)

hey, just wanting to know what the word 'standalone' refers to on this compatibility chart?

this in reference to EWQLSO.

Does Standalone refer to programs like finale?

Standalone means running the program on its own and not as a VST plugin or in conjunction with any other software. This means that to use the program with Finale 2008 or earlier you have to run Finale and EWQLSO at the same time and link the MIDI outputs of Finale to the inputs of EWQLSO with a virtual MIDI cable (i.e. MIDI Yoke). Finale 2009 allows you to load any VST instrument so you don't have to go through the hassle of setting it up on your own.

sounds horrible lol. i may have to go to finale 2009 then...if its easier that way. all this midi/connections/sampling jargon makes me so confused.

does anyone know how Nick Phoenix writes his music? Like, i know this is a dumb question, but im serious...he uses EWQLSO, but does he use a scoring program? Or simply "Logic" or something along those lines?

Yes, i realise you don't know him personally...im just not sure that if I invest in EWQLSO, it will be easy to pick up or not...

i have no idea about movie music...and how its done. STUPID MOVIE MUSIC!

I'm pretty sure Nick uses Logic, but I could be wrong. A lot of the composers of the demos you hear tend to use Logic, from what I've noticed, but in any event it's not going to be easy to "pick up" sample-based composing. You basically have an extra step to the process: you're not just worried about writing good music, you also have to be able to render it realistically with your samples. EWQLSO saves you a lot of the hassles of mixing (your third step in the process), but that's only a relatively small reduction in work time.

looks like ill need to get some studying done i guess...perhaps even a teacher.

im sure they have 'for dummies' books out there too.

bleh.

i just need lots of money now.

Sequencing and mixing techniques aren't usually written in books, if they are, they're only fundamental guidance that'll lead you to the right direction. It takes professionals years to really learn, experiment and master this skill.
