Do You Enjoy the Current Site Design?

I find navigating this place extremely hard. It's a matter of finding the link that takes you to the sublink that takes you to the sub-sub-link that takes you to where you want. This gets annoying after a while.

Where do you want to go??? Everything's RIGHT in front of you...

You seem to have a habit of stalking me.

I have to go back home in order to access the performance thread or the off-topic threads, and then only if one happens to be in the most recent threads column.

Of course you'd talk like that--you've been here for three years.

There's also the Forum Jump menu located in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. You can use this to navigate to any forum thread listing from just about anywhere on the board.

Or, you can click View New Posts at the top to display a reverse chronological list of all posts you haven't read.

I'm confused when you say a thread has to be listed in the most recent thread column in order to be accessible - you can view all threads in a particular forum simply by clicking the name of that forum on the index page, or the name of a subforum when inside another forum (e.g. Other Arts from Off Topic).

But... the Forum button is up there and the performance and off Topic forums are on the main forum page O_o.

The thing is, the design of the forum page is such as to make one think on arriving there that the only thing there is the shoutbox, which I don't go for. You have to scroll down to get to the important stuff.

And that's just the problem with the Forum Jump list. It's only at the bottom. It should be at the top as well. The position in which it is currently located is such that hides its importance. I see no reason to be so secretive.

I think there's a place for everything, and everything has a place. After a few days, you know where each section is, and if you need to find something, you know exactly where to go.

I would try and differentiate the admin/mod/review/editor people from the members while searching through the forums though, like have the different colored names throughout.

If you don't wish to view the shoutbox, click the double arrow icon in its top right hand corner. It will remain hidden forever unless you clear your cookies, I believe. The same goes for any other forum sections you are not interested in.

One might equally argue placing the forum jump at the top of the page would be intrusive, though I do agree it is a bit obscure.

I suspected as much. Once you get over the hump and become accustomed to how they work, you'll find the setup is much the same on just about every site you visit. :)

Maybe we should make ourselves stand out from the thousands of other sites that use generic forum software. We should have a site map with little arrows-- like a flow chart-- and a "you are here" marker for the literarily imparied users "toothygrin:

15 Years Later...............Maby a new........ "Top-Banner"........would intensify the sites Identity.
