July 12, 200916 yr Verdi's Requiem. It's absolutely stunning. I've been switching between that and Orff's Carmina Burana, which is equally as stunning. I wouldn't say the Verdi Requiem is as "stunning" as Carmina Burana ....Buy I won't argue... If you like those I think you will like Trionfo di Afrodite also by Orff .... Really pity "Carmina Burana" is the only one known .... there also "Catulli Carmina" "Der Mond" and "Die Kluge" .... ... and others but I haven't been able to get those
August 23, 200916 yr I have an idea in my head... that I cannot get out... AND I now love Xenakis's XAS piece
September 22, 200916 yr Stravinsky's Tango. Delicious. Also Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2, Mvmt. 2.
September 22, 200916 yr The Well Tuned Piano by LaMonte Young and People Got a Lotta Nerve by Neko Case
September 26, 200916 yr Persepolis by Xenakis.. really awesome piece of electronic music imo. I am also digging the soundtrack from I, Robot composed by Mark Beltrami.. aaaaand 2 Sketches based on Indian Themes by Charles Griffes. All lovely pieces of music.
October 3, 200916 yr My favorite piece of music right now, and of all time is Liszt's Transcendental Etude no.4 "Mazeppa". In my opinion, it's one of the most underrated pieces of music ever. It's very artistic, Liszt making leaps over the keyboard making the illusion of a horse galloping. The melody made by octaves is very nice as well, Berezovsky and Fredy Kempf or Lazar Berman plays it the best I think. Check it out :
October 12, 200916 yr My favorites are Saint-Saens' first cello sonata and concerto, his Marche Heroique, then Shostakovich's 8th quartet, the Malaguena from Lecuona's Andalusia Suite, L'egiptienne from Rameau's suite in g minor, and Mendelssohn's String Symphony No. 10 is my all time favorite.
October 12, 200916 yr Pretty much all of Schumann's Carnival Op.9 and then some of Liszt's Totentanz played by Marc-Andre Hamelin.
October 17, 200916 yr The first 12 or so seconds of this piece are my favorite notes at the moment. I even have it as my ring tone from now on.
October 28, 200916 yr Right now, I'm loving Bernstein's MASS. One of the most eclectic pieces of music out there.
October 28, 200916 yr Stravinsky's Concertino for string quartet Wolf's Italian Serenade for string quartet Dutilleux's Ainsi la Nuit (again, for string quartet)
