In a Field of Daisies

In a Field of Daisies was inspired by this picture:

UPDATED AUDIO WITH PIANISSIMO: http://www.box.net/shared/ic8308y2pn

It is a rather short piece at only 2 minutes 20 seconds.

Audio is here: In a Field of Daisies.mp3 - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage

PDF Score is here: Finale PrintMusic 2009 - [in a Field of Daisies].pdf - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage

2nd PDF Score is here (because I was told like wasn't working): http://www.box.net/shared/mqyx0y0p1y

The Video is at:

The Score is complete but it needs more dynamics. I do not believe that it should be played exactly like it sounds but with much more dynamics. Please do not comment on the dynamics because I'm working on them. I just wanted it up here for you hear and comment on the Piece. Please do not comment on the .pdf score in general considering it was quickly done in one night. I do want comments on the tune.

The .mp3 is a midi file and I used Power Sound Editor and Audacity to make the quality better than the normal screeching midi. Your Welcome!

If you like this piece and would like to make it better go here http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/orchestration-competition-21168.html#post309337

Just orchestrate it and post it. I'll judge!

*I own no rights to the picture. It was only motivation*

Very cute :) I like it! Nice short little piece :)

I tried downloading the score several times - it's giving me an error. Could you re-upload?

Try again. It worked for me... It might be your computer again! Lol. If that doesn't I'll try something else.

I've edited the audio... Why don't you give it a second look :)

i very much like this piece of the 3 that I have heard thus far pequad.

As a matter of preference only, I would suggest to use octaves and more chords on the second upward parts at (ack! it doesnt give me times in the box player). I would also definitely return to the opening statement to provide a sense of closure for the piece.

Well done pequad! @ around 8-9 secs... the main melody starts then little octave jumps after that... the seconds one is where I am saying go an octave lower with the right hand (and maybe left hand too) while also using octaves with the right hand to make the main melody. I hope that makes sense. :(

Very good! I like it a lot!

Surely this must be a love story! It feels like being a love, not a care in the world! Beautiful!

Very beautiful... impressionistic in a way, even. My only critique: Around measure 18, where the melody is moved to the bass (right hand), its very muddled in that register. Perhaps if you cleared the area out a little bit - it might work in that register. Also, the ending seems a little abrupt, not sure exactly why.

A calm, meditative piece. I enjoyed listening to it while I did some work. The one criticism would be that sometimes the right hand sounds a bit thin next to the left. Other than that, nothing sticks out as crude and it's generally a rather pleasing piece. In reference to what you've said above, my advice would be to not go crazy with the dynamics. Often, less is more.

Thanks for posting.

I like this piece- the melody is delightful, and I like the triplet left hand. Nice! Sounds like recorded in mono?

I play piano in 2008 and had one week to begin and finish it as part of my composition comprehensive exam to complete my masters program. Not only did I have one week to complete it, I had a list of ten composers/musical styles I had to 'emulate' or otherwise 'bring to mind' in each movement. Each movement is titled with the last name of the composer/artist. Furthermore, I had to connect movements with a gesture/motivic idea (could be more than one). I know, it's an exhausting list.

Thanks for the comments so far. Please feel free to comment on my other piano works :)
