Trumpet Concerto

This is a first glimpse at the first movement of a trumpet concerto. There is still a lot of clean up to do in the score, adjust spacing and add reminder accidentals, dynamic - but the score itself is complete.

I have attached the score and will post a link to an mp3 file in a few days.

Yup, it needs some clean up. But it looks interesting, i'm waiting mp3. Are you trumpet player yourself?

Score's a mess, but it's clear enough by the instrumentation and your writing that this is synth-kiddie material.

There's poor use of the ensemble as a whole, poor use of the individual instruments, un-idiomatic writing, unrealistic writing.

I'm sorry, I won't go into more detail as there is too much to comment on. Judging from this work, you have some interesting ideas but lack the foundation to present them effectively. I recommend finding a teacher and would look forward to seeing your improvement. You do have creativity, you just lack training.

I second Flints comments of poor use of the orchestra. There were hardly any fun parts at all, nevermind different parts, aside from a few horn parts where you doubled the trumpet.

Speaking of the trumpet, I found the melody bland. At the beggining, it was just held notes. Then came the part where the trumpet played the fast notes, but when the orchestra came in, oyu couldn't tell what the soloist was, as everyone was playing more or less the same thing.

Also, the perussion wasn't there. I couldn't here the tipani or the snare drum, even when it was just trumpet and snare.
