A Short Piece: F

Featured Replies

I made this today when I was bored, so I decided to make a short little piece that was happy and fun; it's also 2:45 in the morning, so I probably should sleep now.

Oh how I wish finale notepad had grace notes...

Oh well, enjoy. :)

Sweet and interesting, love the hiatus in m. 16, however it sounds a bit coincidential, is it?

I liked that. Reminds a little to the childish (in a positive way) music of Kabalevsky. He alternates in a similar way between major and minor scale.

This is really nice. Is there more of this?

EDIT: The score suggest double mols and crosses. But you do not mean an Beses, and an Eses, but because of the multiple layers. I would hide one of the accidentals to prevent this misunderstanding

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, much appreciated! :)

Actually, it's not coincidental at all. Strange right? I was testing to see if I could compose without using the playback until I was done. For the most part it came out the way I imagined it. After the playback I did change things, though not too much.

I used the hiatus to add some humor, did it work?

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, much appreciated again! :D

Are you suggesting a small series Fur die Kinder? If so that's not a bad idea! I might just do it!

Finale notepad is lame like that, it doesn't realize that I already have it marked on my first layer and needed it to allow the playback to sound right.

Yea, that's a really good 'inner voice' excercise. I gotta do more of that myself!

It's cool, but it sounds a bit random. put it at least in one more place to make it stylistic.

haha, it's funny you say that because I actually had another, but decided to take it out to make it sound uneven.

Yeah it is a bit random. The hardest thing to me in composition is creating a flowing theme (any tips?). Still have yet to succeed. I use to try and make large pieces, but I could never keep any consistency. So I make smaller pieces often, which are fairly random, just for fun.

This reminds me of a bored cat toying with a mouse...xD Neat piece! Sounds very crazy and quirky, and I like that in music.

Hey thanks!

btw, I really like your music. I listened to your Malla and really enjoyed it.

Why do you want to make it sound uneven?

On the flowing...I think it's all about crystalizing exactly what you want to say, and secondly realizing exactly how it has to be said. I believe there is only one true best way to say something. I approach writing as "objectivly" as possible, in terms of stripping a feeling to it's core, in order to understand exactly what it is. It could be very hard, but certainly makes you more in tune with yourself. To me that goes to explain why when the strong, sharp impulse (feeling) of inspiration strikes is when the best and clearest things are written.

I preferred it uneven over even that's all. Just a preference I guess. ;)

Wow, you worded that so well...I think it becomes slightly more clear every time I compose something. Though, I often have writers block or I'll start an idea but it wont develop into anything. Once in a while I'll have sharp impulse of inspiration like you said. Not very often, but when I do, I usually spend hours upon hours working to keep the idea flowing.

Thanks for the wonderful reply. :)

Haha, thanks for listening! :D

I'm a HUGE fan of you improvisations on the piano. I love to improve too but you're way better than I.

Okay. Now I know you're just saying that to be nice :P Thanks tho.

A short and happy song. Nice work :)

Nothing extraordinary, but nice. I like.

Now, make it into a larger piece and something better than a small exercise.

Why do pieces have to be long. I like miniatures like these, because they're short...
