Waterfall

Featured Replies

This is a very, very simple piano song I made up. Nevertheless, I still like it alot! I think it could be used behind a video and have a great effect on the video. :D

New part added into it. Gives it a more waterfall feel. Compare the two and tell me which one is better :)

This is beautiful stuff! There's a simple but beautiful chopin-esque line; were you thinking of the Raindrop Prelude? At m.13, I was kind of let down when it sounded like it was building up to something, but it ended with a cadence. If you're striving for a romantic feel, avoid final cadences. It kind of stops the flow. Also, you can easily have a Part B in between the repeated A sections. Keep it up!

Thanks. Yes I know it's sort of a let down but it's a work in progress.. I will add a B part in between the As and expand the end to more beauty... Check back soon

Great start! The piece was kind of entrancing in a way...

One thing I would say about the piece is that the constant eighth-note accompaniment seems rather repetitive; however, I noticed that you are planning on adding a B section to the piece. That would give you a good chance to mix up the accompaniment a little.

I do question the use of B-flat (first happens in measure 12, I believe). I would spell that as A-sharp, since you're using it as a secondary leading tone for the B. Just a small detail.

Overall, though, really nice piece! I'm excited to see it when you've added a B section.

Thanks Hornet! I am planning on a section B. I will give much thought to changing the accompaniment... Thanks

So far of what you have on the site, this is perhaps my favorite. I agree with what hornet said though in regards to the accompaniment pattern (and really, after seeing 3 of your works so far - I think this would be something you might look into). Some fixes to using the accompaniment would be to arpeggio in between the left and right hands, place the melody in bass while the right hand takes the accompaniment, modulate the pattern into a different key, use (as you did here) chromatic variant - as long as its grounded and doesnt interfere with your overall mood. Just some food for thought, I suppose. You have a very good gift for lyricism - I think so far thats your strongest point.

Lovely piece! I really didn

Good Idea with the waterfall... I mainly name my pieces after the fact and usually can't think of one. So with adding a B section that is a little more driving... I can ultimately illustrate a waterfall coming and after the fact. :)

Exactly!

The new section is added in tell me what you think :) http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/waterfall-22221.html

hey pequad,

very nice indeed! very melodic and sublte. I dont understand why you dont come back to the A from the B however. Maybe you have a reason for that? If not, then I believe it would provide a sense of closure to the piece moreso than letting it drop off as you have done. Again, this may be intentional.

On the whole, very nice. :) One of my favorites from you. Keep on going man!

Ahhh, I like what you've added to this! I see you took a suggestion someone gave (I forget who) to build up to a crescendo, as if riding down to the waterfall's edge: very nice piece! =D
