"-1 New Messages"

I'm wondering how I have a negative number of new private messages... any idea what that's supposed to mean?

No, it's definitely not a hyphen. I don't have any unread messages.

Is your message box full by any chance? It might be a broken error or warning message

It's an odd bug in the board software that has been around for ages and crops up on rare occasions. Nobody quite knows how to duplicate it, thus the developers have been unable to provide a fix. Pretty mysterious. But it can normally be fixed if you send yourself a PM. Your unread messages should go to 1, then back to 0 once you've read the PM.

On this occasion though, I took the liberty of manually reseting the new messages value for your account in the database. This should fix the problem.

I think 100 is a reasonable amount. We have unlimited database space but allowing very large amounts of PMs to be stored will make backups larger and more unwieldy to restore, should there be a need to do so.

Don't forget you can export all of your existing PMs should you want to delete them to make way for new ones. If you go to My Controls you'll see two options under Messenger which read "Email Archived Messages" and "View All Messages In Exportable Format", the latter being the custom script I wrote which is, in my opinion, better than the email archiver. ;)

:) :D i must admit, ita a brilliant toy now that youve pointed it out but does it only display received messages or is there a way to do sent ones as well or... am i just lost today?

Currently it only displays messages in the inbox. I may add a feature in future to show messages in the Sent folder as well now that you've pointed that out.

OK just updated it, there should now be a link at the top of the generated page that you can click to view your Sent messages. I also changed a couple of things and fixed a bug or two.
