Hey everyone!

Most of you will probably not be familiar with the source material here ("In Zanarkand" from Final Fantasy 10), but I thought I'd share the mix anyways because it's rather pretty

This is for solo piano and is an improvisation. Please enjoy and leave me any comments you may have :)

Pretty - nice thematic development. What do you use to record yourself? You have a good sense of improvised chords - I don't hear any non-chord tones in your playing, which means you have amazing accuracy. And just really really pretty.

Thank you very much, Chris! This was recorded from my Yamaha S08's basic piano patch directly into Adobe Audition. I'm glad you liked the piece, it was fun to play

Beautiful piece my friend :D Very passionate playing also. I love the soft beginning, and then how it builds up into a faster section. Awesome dynamics! Very dramatic piece, almost sounds sad. Nice theme/melody

Excellent :innocent:

Very beautiful indeed!

I'm familiar with "To Zanarkand". It's one of the greatest Piano Solos by Nobuo Uematsu and your remix would fit right into the game with no problem (since there are some remixes of To Zanarkand theme in the game).

Good Job, it's a pity it isn't downloadable... would love to have it on my Playlist.

BTW, I'll check your other songs from your soundclick webpage.

really nice, and improv too!

I like to improv alot. I'll just sit down and start improving, everyonce in a while my improving evolves into a piano piece that I try to remember and write down.

Good job!

*listens, for the the n

th time, still loving it*

YAY!!!

To Zanarkand is one of my favourite pieces ever, and you came up with a similarly beautiful arrangement...

Personally I'm not as fond of the fast section as the slow bit, it just seems to speed up for the sake of it and loses alot of the emotion. Around 2:35 where it goes lower it seems to find it again, but just that 20 second sections or so where it first speeds up loses something.

That aside, wonderful and I will listen many times. Great job!

Edit: It cuts out very suddenly at 7:00 .....I assume that's the player rather than your doing!

Hah, talk about a blast from the past! :P

I appreciate the comments, folks, and to address some specifically: Yes, Fox, it does cut out rather abruptly, but Soundclick has always liked to do that to my piano pieces, so I'll assume it doesn't like my playing or something :P

As a sort of "fix" for this little issue, I've uploaded the piece to my own site's hosting and linked it below, so you can download/listen to the full thing all you want without having to rely on Soundclick's moods.

I also agree about the emotion bit. As I recall, someone walked in while I was recording, so I was doing my best to communicate to them that I wanted them to leave while still trying to maintain a decent level of performance. It happens.

Anyhow, thanks again for your comments; it makes me really happy to hear that my work is enjoyed. And here's the link I promised:

Since someone brought this thread up, I might as well comment. I've always loved improvising but improvising something 7 minutes long... Wow, you sure need a lot of good material, or the listener will lose interest. I must say that you have pulled it off quite well.

This piece is subtle, calm and very emotional. The fast part provided a bit of variety to the whole piece, which I really liked. The loud part at around 4.20 was perfect, then comes the most beautiful part in the whole piece, the repeated arpeggiated figures. I thought you really did well in playing different interpretations on the same theme, and that makes it not boring.

In short, I really enjoyed listening to this piece. :)

You inspired me to try and learn this song.

So far, I've got the first 4 measures.

So, almost there!

I'm very glad you enjoyed it!

Abigmoron, it's good to know that I inspired you to learn it! It's quite a pretty piece, though I'm not particularly fond of the original arrangement myself -- I never bothered to learn it. :P

You don't like the original To Zanarkand!?

*faints* :P
