Before sending out invites for this place, we need to lay down some ground rules to alert the members of before they accept. yes... I know... rules in the FFA is blasphemy but we do need a few.

Maybe rules is a bad name. Terms of service, perhaps? Highlight the fact that this is supposed to be a relatively secret and sacred place and that disgrace will not be tolerated?

Anyway, if anyone has any time or artistic flare, please write a few so we can get inviting!

I dunno, i tend to think we should just let the hate-speachers blow their steam off, and go about our regular business while they shout at each other. Besides, I don't think any hate-speech episodes will last very long if we don't invite assholes. :- D

I don't want to say this, buttt... If we don't say anything about porn, someone's going to post some silly picture just to test the limits of the forum. I thought of doing this myself, in fact :D So what'll it be? Personally i don't really care about this.. since it's hidden from the public eye, i don't think anything needs to be said.

I'm still against hate speech, people can say all kinds of crap that will surprise you, and it makes me very uncomfortable to be hosting that garbage.

No porn please, (ie. no graphic images, graphic images are copyrighted anyway, unless they are owned by you, then you own the copyright. But we don't need to be hosting your nudes for your own protection!). Also, if anything, keep the sexual talk light, not overly graphic. This is predominantly a male based site, and I don't want the females to feel uncomfortable with the males "overdoing" it with the sexual talk. This could lead to sexism, which isn't pleasant for anyone, even if you think you are joking.

It's probably a bad idea, but one could just make it "FFA" for the mods as well - meaning we can delete whatever we feel like deleting. Optimally, we'd follow some very rough set of general guidelines and be very conservative about modding stuff, but ultimately it would come down to individual decisions. Sure, that will make some decisions somewhat unfair - but if you're ready to suck up personal attacks and whatever else may come with a FFA forum, you might as well suck up a biased mod decision or two.

I'm just saying this because I'd like to keep rules in such a forum to an absolute minimum, but still be able to do something in certain extreme cases. Just a few general "words of advice" might suffice.

Personally, I'm perfectly willing to accept graphic sexual talk and fairly aggressive speech, but I understand that this is chopin's site and ultimately he'll have to agree with the rules or not-rules we lay down for such a forum. But if we lay down too many hard rules to begin with, we may just drop the concept of an FFA forum altogether.

If it is going to be called an FFA, let it be a true FFA... very little if any rules. No kiddies allowed (18+ I believe was decided on[?]). Since there are no kiddies allowed and it is private, I don't see why they can't talk about whatev as long as it doesn't leak out (or is illegal - since YC is owned by a person in the US, I would say go by US rules...). Well, ok I agree with the no porn thing :P Other then that, don't limit it too much or it will become pointless.

How about, use common sense? I don't want to run this particular forum (I'm too nervous to be in charge of a "semi-adult" lounge and I would probably act too parent-like, therefore I will probably only poke my head in here from time to time. But if people start degrading others (for ex. males degrading females), then the mods use your common sense and act accordingly. And I would expect the mods to come forward to me if they feel something is getting out of hand.

I still don't want hate speech though. This is a universal rule.

I'm with you chopin - I don't really want to run that forum either. I don't care if it is there, but I don't want a part in it either. Who are the mods that will be in charge? (I apologize for the fact that I am a few weeks out of the loop - I moved and didn't have regular access to a computer for a while... if anyone wants to fill me in on the details of the FFA or anything else important that is going on, I'd appreciate it :) )

The mods can be the usual global moderator crew, but the dedicated forum mods are J. Lee, Anders and Hillary.

I'm inclined to agree with the "common sense" idea. We'd moderate when something is clearly beyond the pale. People will catch on. Nothing illegal in the U.S. sounds good, too.

I also just thought of something. Member blackmailing, and copying threads/posts from this forum to the public forum. If any member threatens to blackmail a staff member and/or even regular member by using threads/posts from this forum and displaying them elsewhere, this should warrant an immediate ban from this forum. What do you say? Add to TOS?

Yah. Content from the FFA MUST stay in the FFA. If it leaves - for any reason - it's grounds for immediate banning.

Actually, Daniel, I kind of agree with Chopin on this one.... we need to have it posted *somewhere* that any leaks of content or use of anything related to the FFA on the general forum will result in an immediate ban. I mean, sure, people will tell each other about this place and talk about it outside of YC... and you can't stop people from talking :pinch:

Definitely add "No content from the FFA may come out."

What I mean was don't add "no blackmailing of admins" etc., and all those fussy specific things. Of course we won't allow it, but it'll but we'll deal with it as we see it.
