Prog Rock slow section with 4 flutes

Featured Replies

Hey!I've been asked by German Prog Rock band The Night Patrol to score some flute parts on their new album,,Update:Right guys, I've been to the cathedral and spent some time recording the four parts. I've decided to upload the full (not yet finished) version of the track, with this section starting at 5:51. Enjoy!Criticism and feedback welcome, I'm not particularly good at writing contrapuntal stuff like this, so advice is more than welcome!-SS

Prog Rock slow section with 4 flutes

Not good?!

!!!

Laughable: this is very good as a sort of intro into a prog rock section. This would be a perfect stepping stone for the rock group to launch into a high-powered adrenaline-charged fest of awesomeness!

Of course, on it's own, it leaves much to be desired: but as a setup, it's really quite brilliant (I can already envision so many different musical possibilities with this). If this group doesn't do it justice, I'm gonna sue.

Thanks for sharing :D

Wow, that was quite good. But is seems as though you were going for a Bach-ish sound, and I feel there's something missing. I think it would sound nice if towards the end the counterpoint got more complex. Specifically, if one of the flutes developed into a seperate melody below the main one.

Just my thoughts.

Prog rock have always welcomed a lot of innovation, so I think that there is nothing wrong with putting a flute with Night Patrol's new songs. Unless of course the flute is pretty bad to begin with.

Bring the flutes out a bit more -- they're what's moving, the harpsichord and bass are support.

It's alright, but I'd be concerned about the transition from this part to the "rock" part.

I wish I could say more, but as a fragment, there's not much to say.

Very soft and beautiful sound. Great job, mate! 10/10! -Minoxor.

This is pure awesomeness. I wish there would be more bands embracing unusual setups for the element of suprise and epicness. As said previous Progressive rock is famous for being innovative.

But overall I really liked it, going to check them out for sure
