Unnamed game music

Featured Replies

Re-uploading this cause finale didnt want to cooperate the first time. For a game im making. Supposed to be spooky. Any crits are really appreciated, but remember that im a programmer, so keep the terms simple. It doesn't resolve at the end cause i'm gonna loop it. And yes, i know it's quiet.

You did not upload the music...

And it say I do not have permission to access your uploads...

Dunno what happened, but at least it's fixed now. Crits, anyone?

edit: also, does anyone know how to make a piece more than a minute long in finale?

So, you're a programmer and wrote this? That's pretty great work! I really think it's quite characteristic of a spooky passage in a game. I also think it could go quite well as a back beat to a rap tune, honestly. I don't mean that negatively (I happen to like Eminem, guilty as charged). I could see that working well doing some rhyming over it. That's an entirely random thought, though.

Crits? Well, there's not much to say except you could stop repeating the initial theme so much and add in a second idea that compliments the first. This way there's a little more interest. Another idea is to layer some percussion beats or other instruments over the track after the first or second time the idea repeats to build into something. These are just a few things that come to mind after listening.

Good work! Be sure to comment on other works around the forum. You can also add a link to this thread, like I have done for my music, in your signature line. Welcome to YC!

i agree it does have the sound of a nice rap song,,,:)

Hi Sporknife!

Glad you managed to get this up and working. It's always a good thing to see someone from another discipline trying their hand at writing music. You did a nice job for a fish out of water, so to speak. It's quite simplistic and constructed in a repetitive manner, but it shows a decent understanding of musical shapes and you have a solid foundation to work with and improve upon. Can you tell us a bit about the context here? What's it for, if anything?

This doesn't have much of a creepy vibe to me  More like Luigi's Mansion horror

I think the initial set-up is very nice and well done, but imagine having to listen to this track a zillion times!! Because it hardly changes from then on! That...would become very annoying, I think  Repetition is a great thing in music, but use it too much, and it becomes like dumping too much salt on a dish: a dash spices it up, too much makes it nasty! Feel free to add development to the piece: take it to new places, vary the instrumentation, add percussion...anything to break up something that may become monotonous upon repeated listening.

Thanks for sharing, this was fun to listen to :)

Welcome to Young Composers, I hope you enjoy the site, and all the other pieces on it! :D
