I don't know.It a piano piece dedicated to me and a friend, as we both recently have both suffered a lot of betrayal by friends, so this is like...my musical response on behalf of how hurt we feel/felt.Feel free to comment as either a critic, appreciator or even as someone who has been betrayed by someone they trusted and loved, and how this song related to that, or not? January 19, 201016 yr Haha you're right- this is sooo Sakamoto-esque. Anyway, I really love it (as is the case with most of your stuff). Really this is totally freaking stunningly gorgeous.
January 19, 201016 yr Mmmm, good quality and very pleasant to listen to. While I'm not all that familiar with Sakamoto, I certainly hear a sound that I associate with JRPGs.
January 19, 201016 yr (Ohhhh, score please!) This really is very nice: melodically strong, and the atmosphere and emotion is very rich. I love the subtle movements of the piece, and how the slight changes in the notes bring out a completely different feeling. As always, your stuff is genuinely amazing. My complaint is that, the song doesn't feel so much like pain from betrayal. I only got that vibe at the very beginning (about 2 minutes through), but after that, it jsut sort of...trails. It's not bad-sounding, but I don't feel the betrayal. Were you trying to evoke a feeling of emptiness? Thanks very much for sharing, I enjoyed this a bunch!
January 20, 201016 yr A transition from sad meeting, almost regretful to almost great and happy experiences.... then it just swerves sadly in and out... and ends... perhaps weeping. Only problem I have with it is... why'd you end in a major context? lol... I do enjoy the emptiness of the piece, the space, it leaves a lot to be said... and seems to almost tinge on regret, but once again, it isn't regret at all for some reason... It's like your glad to be betrayed, because you got to experience some maybe new, and exciting things, and that makes you happy? But all in all... all you feel now is sadness upon happiness.... And after listening to it for a third time, I still only feel that almost-regret... that isn't regret at all... What is that your trying to get to?...

I think the placement of ma, or the pause and sound of silence between composed sounds, is as difficult to master as the setting of structural downbeats (in music where structural downbeats apply). I have to agree that the use of space in Flow is very well done.
January 20, 201016 yr Author Wow guys thanks for the feedback so far. I gotta answer now! haha. @SergeOfArniVillage- Sorry no sheet music! GOOD POINT! I should explain. I have to descriptions for this. The concept behind why the piece is changing slightly. It's more going from pain to sadness and then the major context (replying to VOLT too!). To you are "flowing" through different feelings, but definitely starting sad and definitely ending happy. January 21, 201016 yr This is really beautiful. Definitely reminds me of all the later Final Fantasy Piano Collections. It's very nice to hear when a composer isn't afraid of silence. I think that's something that a lot of people (myself included) struggle with. My only critique at all is that the sustain pedal at the beginning of the piece with the louder chords starts to mush the sound a bit. But that's really my only issue. You've nailed it on this one.
January 21, 201016 yr Kevin I could write a book about betrayals. They all happened to me and I still don't believe half of them, but that is the darker side of life. I have often been asked what has happened to me in my past that makes me compose as dark as I do. Those people wouldn't believe it either. This piece has an improv feel to it which I like. January 22, 201016 yr Heya Kevin, Not much to add to what's been said, except to let you know that my experience of listening to this had NOTHING at all to do with betrayal or loss or anything of the sort: when I listened to it, I was immediately reminded of passages like the ones in Lost Odyssey where a story is being told to you. In other words, this sounded like a gentle backdrop to storytelling in my mind. Beyond that though, it's very pretty, very soothing and relaxing to listen to, and it makes for an excellent backdrop to something where you don't want a distraction but need some music going. Great work, keep it up! :)
