Hi, im new to this site. I stumbled across it while I was looking for some online composing commitee. My name is Aaron Hamilton(ADT_CLONE) and im 14 years old. I have been playing the piano for 7 years and the trumpet for 4 years. I have been composing music for over 1 year, and have noticed I have a natural ability for it. Hope to be showing everyone some of my pieces in the near future.

I've merged your seperate introduction thread with the introductions master thread. The fact that new members post their introductions in seperate threads angers me and makes me want to kill them.

..... With that said, welcome! :)

Oops sorry about that. I just realised that while I was trying to search for my post.

Hi all!

Ah! So there is an introduction thread!

My name is Richard, I'm a sophomore voice (read: opera) performance major at the University of Michigan, but have a passion for composing, even if my talent may not be as present in the field as it is in voice. I'm also a big fan of poetry, which is perhaps why the vocal field is so suitable for me, as it unites what may well be my two favourite things on Earth. I'm twenty years old and for trivia's sake, my favourite composer is Modest Mussorgsky.

Good to see yet another singer here, not that we have many. Welcome.

University of Michigan is great, Go wolverines!

I don't think I have ever met anyone who said

Modest Mussorgsky was their favorite composer.

Hey, i havent posted here yet...

Well, my name is Jason *mumble* Hiebel and i live in Wisconsin. Im a junior with college frosh experiance in music theory and computer science. I like over working myself to the point of collapse (which almost happened today). I play the Alto Sax, am 16, and love playing, conducting, and composing music!

Yey! 50 posts now

Hmm, don't think I've posted here yet. I'm Callum Au, I live in the UK, I have 2 legs, I am (just) 16. I play jazz trombone to a good standard as well as Jazz (and now classical) piano, string bass, acoustic bass guitar, tuba, and a very limited amount of saxophone (ie. blues solo in Eb, F, G, and Against all Odds solo). I like sophisticated things, jazz, sugar, myself, intelligence, large buildings, aeroplanes of the private variety (I wish), martial arts, and the occasional video game (although not so much anymore). My favourite 3 composers are Gordon Goodwin, George Gershwin, and Igor Stravinsky, particularly the pieces Samba Del Gringo, So Close and Yet So Far, American in Paris, Rhapsody in Blue, The Firebird Suite, The Rite of Spring. I am often described as soulless and heartless, but I'm very nice really. Yeah, if you believe that you'll believe anything.

My name is Xire. I actually joined here before as Ryan, but never was able to stay active because of stuff getting in the way. I'm back with better skills and stuff now, though. :)

So you go to UM too, eh (and a music major to top it off... *envies*)?

Salvete, omnes! My name is Dustin Morningstar, and I'm a junior at Moore High School in Moore, Oklahoma. I've been in choir ever since my Junior High days-- from 7th grade to Present-- and I plan on continuing through High School and College. As a result of being exposed to music, I taught myself for 5 years to play the piano which naturally led to the 3 years of composition. I was also selected to be in the All-OMEA Honor Choir two years in a row-- 2005 and 2006-- and I hope to make it for the maximum 3. I am a synaesthete, meaning that my sense of hearing and sense of sight are a single entity, and I possess perfect pitch because of it. To briefly explain this, whenever I hear a note I see flashes of color that allow me to identify that note within an instant. As some of you may have noticed, I'm a bit of a Latin buff... Amo Latinam, et Latina me amat.

I'm glad you think so! I'm all for diverse opinions.

My name is Sean Christopher Stork, I am a 21 year old Junior (soon to be Senior) Vocal Performance Major at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. I am a singer with an emphasis in Classical, Opera, and legitimate Musical Theater. I also used to play the trombone in high school, and took piano lessons on and off for 13 years in my youth (haha). I am currently unemployed, studying full time, but devote a substantial part of my time singing in and directing the Tallahassee Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, formerly the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Incorporated (SPEBSQSA, Inc.) and sing Baritone in a barbershop quartet called "Fourtune". I have been interested in composing and arranging since I was in high school where I arranged a few jazz charts for the jazz band (Bass Trombone Player for 3 years) and also wrote an original composition for my Church Bell Choir. I consider myself to be heavily influenced by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Carlisle Floyd, Igor Stravinsky, Mark Camphouse, and Danny Elfman. I hope my work is enjoyed by everyone here as I enjoy the works of those who are veteran members.

from your avatar, you look cute, fluffy and oh so cuddly! :)

wanna be friends? :innocent:

Amo Latinam, et Latina me amat

No, no, no. Word order! The verb comes last! Also, 'Latinam' is not a word, you have to say 'The Latin language' - "lingua Romanorum". Also, Latin does not use capital letters apart from for proper nouns. What that should read is:

lingua Romanorum amo, et linguam Romanorum me amat

That is despite the impossibility of the second part.

I'm sorry. That was completely uncalled for. Well, not completely. But mostly.

Hi, my name is Jon Ginder, I'm 15, and I've been composing for about four months.

I've played the violin since I was 11 and am 1st chair in my school's orchestra. I've been taking piano for about 7 or 8 months, but I've been able to play anything ive heard on a piano since i was four. I don't have any formal theory or composition training, but think of myself as o.k.

Oh, and if my name comes off as arrogant or cocky, it's not meant to be that way, but I figure this is probably one of the only places where people might get the joke... haha.

At first, I may seem a little quirky, but once you get to know me, I'm VERY quirky.

-Your potential new fiend,

Jon

Hail, new fiend. I don't get the joke.

'Ello everyone. I just found this on google and thought I'd drop in. I'm a young composer, I've been studying piano for a year, but I'm pretty good. Most of my compositions aren't anything major yet, but I keep trying. I've written bits of piano pieces, and about five completed pieces. One of them is about 6 pages, so that was fun. I do alot of my work on Sibelius along with dictating music for fun.

As an example of what I play:

-I'm gonna be playing the entire Children's Corner suite by Debussy. Currently I'm playing from it Dr. Gradus ad

Parnassum, Golliwog's Cakewalk and the Little Sheparp.

-Chopin's Etude in A-Flat Major from Opus. 25.

-Khachaturian's Toccata in E-Flat Minor

-Chopin preludes in E-Minor, A Major, Db Major, C Minor, and G Minor, though those were a long time ago.

-The rondo alla turca by Mozart.

And quite a bit more. Hopefully soon I'm going to be playing another finale of a Mozart sonata, the one in F-Major (K332 I think...)

And the Military Polonaise by Chopin.

I like Debussy, Chopin and Ravel quite a bit, though I'm haven't played an Ravel, other then some piano duets from the Mother Goose suite.

I like listening to music and following scores, reading, drawing, practicing, playin' games, and walkin'. I'm also homeschooled, which is why I can post this at 9:44am central time... Anyways, I should get back to schoolin'. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. I'm very internet savvy too... Familiar with these websites.

Later all.

- Leon

My name is Sade. You may call me Sade. I actually know little to nothing about the complex theory of western contemporary music, but I compose and make sounds none the less. I could care less about the pretentious, useless euphemisms of advanced music study. I'm a former vocal performing arts major, and I'm a bitter, cynical asshole. I experiment and explore sounds, I do not "make beautiful music." I hate nearly everything and everybody, and express this through harsh, nearly unlistenable sounds that are reserved only for their artistic quality and nothing else. I paint abstract portraits of no musical merit or value in the sense of western music study.

I've done orchestral compositions as well, and am currently working on a 10 minuet denuemont piece for a film.

I probably won't like anybody on this forum or connect with them in any significant way. And that's just how I like it.

Well Sade, you migth hate me.. But I LOVE you!

haha... that was the funniest introduction I've seen in a while... problem is he is serious.

It'll probably happen because you want what you said to happen. It reminds me of the goth called at high school. In truth, you are just a fuzzy bear!
