Hi, everyone--and hola, Emiliano. I'm Doug and I live in San Miguel de Allende. Have you ever played with cellist Roli Hernandez or violinist Maureen Conlin Guitierez??

hi all, really interesting to be here, all these new ideas and ambitions :)

i'm from israel, started at guitar from age 16, learned and performed jazz in the states, and now back to israel and trying to enter film and video game buisness, without any training in compostion or orchestration..too little funding and too much faith in myself..

i've opened a thread of my current project you're all welcome to enter and dissect my works, or just enjoy them if possible :)

Hey Ya'll

Fieralds here, but if you ever get around to it, call me DJ, 16 years old.

Umm...been playing piano since i was 5, never really got into it (which i now REALLY regret :( ) and was the rebel musician at 10 and started playing percussion. I then really got into music and went deep into Concert Percussion with a focus on Timpani. Started to hear music in my head....alot...had to get it out of me so i started writing some melody lines down, and got hooked. My problem? I don't understand theory well enough to write good music....i hear good music but i can't bring it from my head to paper yet. I jsut picked up a college theory book and i am planning to start going through that. In my dissapointment with not being able to play piano, i picked up Cello last year and i'm progressing at a rapid pace, which is further fueling my desire to compose. I have already decided to be a Theory and Composition Major in College, but I really wanna get ahead of the game. More than anyhting, i am hoping i can learn from you all to prepare myself for college!

Thanks!

hey im Ashley and new here! i love classical music, always have and just wanted a good place to talk about it.

Hi my name is Jacob. My only experience is reading and practicing from two Complete Idiots theory and composition books. I usually use a program like Fruity Loops(No, I dont actually use premade loops) to create music. My experience sounds more like a comedy but I try hard to become better.

Here is my first post and some samples of my current skill level:

Welcome, officially, to YC Jacob.

I have recently gained an interest in composing music. I have no training in music composition, but hope to remedy that soon.

Hello all, I am Som, from Hyderabad, India; composing for the past 8 years.

Hoping to have great learning and sharing sessions.

Hello, I'm ClarinetAndrew. I play the clarinet, piano, and the alto saxophone. I enjoy composing and arranging various music.

hi. im Justin from the Philippines, i study in the UST Conservatory of Music.... i play guitar, piano, any strings, percussion.... i compose when there is sound that i think of.... i am partially deaf... so its hard for me to communicate without bringing paper for the people to write what they are saying there, but i can still hear.... i compose mostly orchestra music...

I'm Courtney. I play piano, clarinet, and flute. I started out on the clarinet when I was in 5 grade. I stared piano in December of 2008, and have progressed more then I thought I would have.

It's nice to join this forum : )

Hey,

I'm a Master of Music in composition student in Canada and will be commencing my PhD at University of Birmingham January 2010!

Hey everyone, I'm Mike, and I'm a senior year high school student from Southern Ontario. So far I've written a few 3-5 minute pieces for solo guitar and piano, but I did so without writing them down. I'm starting, now, to find this approach a LOT more difficult than it needs to be, considering I have no way to manipulate my thoughts in a tactile way! I'm starting to get a lot of choral ideas, so soon I'll put pen to paper and start writing larger scale pieces. I'd really like to make composing my career, so I'm here to listen, give and get feedback, and learn.

Hi, I'm Rowen from QDrive.

I think I'm an older member here than the average. Regardless of my age, I just started to compose music one or two years ago.

I hope the quote is correct: "you're never to old to learn about composing, making music". ;)

Actually I don't play any instruments (except the flute when I was a child). I guess you can hear that in my music. ;)

I was looking for the right music-tool for a long time and have found one. Even if it's a little buggy sometimes.

Anyway, I just love to arrange instruments and create music. I thinks it's great to start with the "white paper" and at the end you created something.

If you would like to listen to some of my pieces, it's at:

Mx3 - QDrive - Easy listening - Film score

-homeland

-silverblue

-moonshine

Please give me some feedback. I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot and all the best to you.

Rowen (QDrive)

Hi everyone, I'm Danny from Los Angeles. I've been studying piano and composition for a bit now, 11 and 2 years respectively. Incidentally, I'm heading off to Bard's Conductor's Institute this summer... will I see anyone there?

Good to be here,

Danny
