Well Aaron, let's just hope you're not using this site for marketing.

I would not put it that way. that is the point of YC! to market your music....let others listen and comment and become known (you'll be on google when people search your music or name)....

its a great way to market if you are active....unless it is spam marketing like in my coding forum....-_- always advertising viagra and cialis...ugh! anyways....stay on the admin's and mods's good side, haha. I started off wrong and I hope to change it completely soon.

Anyways...I never introduced my self since I became a member.

Hi, I am Omar I just graduated High School. I want to be a music major in Music Education and Composition and eventually get my PhD in Music Education to teach at a university. I play many instruments but you can read my bio in my profile. haha. I just turned 18 in May....ummm....Yeah. I dont want to type too much so....I'm done here. XD

Hey everyone!

I've just started composing, and have made a few short songs. I joined this site to post my works and get advice, as my family says I'm good, but even when I play something horrible, they think it's good, so I wanted to see if I was good or not.

I play Tenor Sax, have started Bassoon, and I use Finale, but not the best one. I have Printmusic, so I can only use 24 instruments, but I still like the outcome.

Hopefully I can improve using this site, and I'd love to talk to people about music and composing.

Finally, I named myself (username, not name) after my favorite piece at the moment, Mozart's the Impresario.

Thus ends the longest post you'll ever see from me XP

Hi, I play piano and learning guitar. i am an individual, I do not change to follow.

Hello, Young Composers,

I confess that I'm not a composer, not even a musician. I am a writer who has a music question that needs an expert answer. Please forgive me if I have tapped into your group's expertise improperly. It is for an artful purpose.

Brief Background Scenerio: In the novel I am writing, the protagonist enters her recently deceased uncle's house. He was a pianist. As she walks by his grand piano, she hits a key which reminds her of something he often played for her. She is walking past the "C" side of the keyboard.

Here is the question: Since she is just touching the key in passing, which "C" note is most believable for her to touch and what concerto or piece could it remind her of? I wondered if Mozart's Concerto 21 in C Major might work but I don't know if it begins with an casually accessable note. This novel is set in Italy, so I prefer an Italian composer if possible. I noticed the reference to Busoni in C Major and wondered if that might work. I know this is a small detail but I want to be true to the music world and my musician readers. Advice anyone? Thank you for any help you offer in making my novel as authentic as possible. Best regards, Julie Rinaldi

Hey, my name's Evan. I'm 23, and not really a composer. But I want to learn as much as I possibly can about composing. I've co-written a good chunk of music for bands I've been in, and I play bass guitar. I've learned some other instruments; bassoon, oboe, and piano...but for me, bass guitar, cello, and guitar are where it's at. I tend to come up with a lot of ideas, but not follow through. Maybe some members here will help plant that seed in my mind...

Hi, This is Pedro. First of all I would like to apologice because of my english. I am from Spain and probably I will make many mistakes writing in my posts.

I play piano and I like the composition and the music software. I have discovered this forum recently and it is amazing what is in it.

Thank you very much to the comunity.

Greetings.

I highly doubt a single note would remind anyone of any piece.

I beg to differ. I used to hear a piano's B-flat and think of that blasted Chopin nocturne in E-flat every time. But that's not an Italian composer... Likewise... I would hear a trill on A-flat and immediately I know it's Minute Waltz.

Hey all!

I'm a musician from New Hampshire, attending UMASS Amherst in the fall but hoping to transfer to a more musically inclined school. I'm hoping to persue a career in music (Mostly as a composer, but I'd happily sell my soul to the general field). I write pieces from full orchestra to hard rock to techno.

Have no idea why I didn't find this site sooner, as I think I would have thoroughly enjoyed it. :P

Hi Pedro! Don't be ashamed about your English at all...it's more than decent. :) (and actually might even far surpass that of certain people I know...with English being their first and only language lol).

Welcome =]

...Hearing a Bb would always remind me of "Somewhere" from West Side Story...perhaps because I used that beginning Bb-Ab interval for minor 7th interval studies/recognition purposes at school. *shrugs*

Welcome, I like your avatar :)

Hi, I'm a self taught composer, entering a music class this August.

I am very grateful about being welcomed. I like this comunity and I hope to give it as much as I can.

Greetings. Pedro.

I do hear it! My ear does the jump up to the E-flat right after every time.

I do that with a A2 on any instrument for the beginning of Bach's 2 part invention in a minor as well...a few other pitches in certain timbres will immediately make me think, "that's the same note as x part in y piece!"

Hi am Neo and am a drummer

hey guys, Si Hao here from Singapore, 19 this year haha, i think i joined the old forums before :).. my pseudo is Tera, Tera on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads ^^ ...

Hello, I'm a saxophonist, guitarist, pianist, composer, and digital musician. I use Finale 2009, LMMS, and the FL Studio 8 demo for composition. The only instrument with which I have studied privately is the saxophone (with which I am currently studying privately), I taught myself all the others.

Currently, I have been composing music for about a year or so and have just recently "gotten serious" with music composition. I recently read a book about music theory and am currently reading a book on music composition (if that says anything about my music education background).

Doesn't it jump up to a G? :P

Doesn't it jump up to a G? :P

Totally. It's how I memorised my major sixth relationship.

Doesn't it jump up to a G? :P

haha! my bad, I was thinking of the key, not the note

Bob here, 'GandSnut'. Interpret that to mean I'm a nut about Gilbert & Sullivan. Am an electric bassist and longhair, as well as pop/modern, composer.

I like long walks by the beach, warm April showers, and afternoon tea served using fine china on doilies.

Whoa, time to take the reality pills. :D

hi guys. im new here. im from australia and i play the piano and euphonium i was refered here from the 8notes forum

Hey everybody :) The name's Robin, and I'm from Norway. I'm a guy, not a girl. I've been mistaken for a girl several times on the net because of my name :P Currently I'm 20 years of age. I play piano and like to compose music. I'm hoping to compose for films in the future.

Looking forward to be spending my time here, I feel at home already :)

So until next time...!

HAHAHAHA!!! ...Robin's a girls name!!!!!

HAHAHAHA!!! ...Robin's a girls name!!!!!

Not according to Batman.

Hey guys, I'm Selena. I've been playing piano since I was four years old, and I've always loved to sing. I like singing rock and broadway and opera. :) I play a bit of percussion too, and I love learning new instruments. I would love to learn violin and harp and drum set and guitar and flute and... well, just about everything. XD

I'm 17 years old and I'm about to be a senior in high school. I love to compose music, and lyrics, but I don't have many finished pieces because I always dispose of everything I create either before I finish it or even after, because I dislike what I do. :P It's a really bad habit, and I know I have to break it.

I don't have many friends who have a passion for music, maybe one or two, and I really hope that changes eventually. I have a band, but we rarely ever practice.
