My favourite composer is Gershwin because he marries classical and jazz into something beautiful.

Yeah, not everybody can achieve that kind of "mix" between styles

Hey! I'm Alex, and I'm 16. I've been doing music for as long as I remember, but officially I started learning at 9, and I've always wanted to go into composition. When I stumbled onto this site I was so excited!! Hopefully I can get lots of ideas and feedback on here!!

Hi everyone, I play the guitar (for about 5 years) and a little bit the piano, I never had a music teacher. My interests are mainly music theory and improvisation. I'm looking forward to learn more about composing and arranging multi-instrumental pieces.

Im Scott, From LA. Currently enrolled in the film scoring program at ucla extension, been playing the piano and writing music since i was a kid. I'm am on the outside looking in on the industry but hopefull that I can eventually make some sort of living doing what I love to do.

Hi, I am voisalfuth from India. I am trying to enter in to the field of composing, but i have to learn keyboard (My Favorite Instrument).

Hello everyone, I'm Paige from Chicago. I'm currently sixteen years old (a junior in high school) and a violinist in my school's orchestra. I have taken courses in Music History and Music Theory and absolutely adore composition. My greatest influence is Central and Eastern European folk, especially music from the Romani and Hungary. Some of my favorite composers include George Gershwin, Dmitri Shostakovich, Fr

James, 24, pianist. Write solo piano works, some ensemble music, and produce hip-hop/rb, pop stuff. Starting experimenting with music very young, just recently more serious about it. Favorite composers/musicians: Beethoven, Schubert, Bach, Chopin, Czerny, Scarlatti, CPE Bach, Grieg, Mozart, Haydn, Clementi, Liszt, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Nobuo Uetmatsu, Timothy Mosely, Rodney Jerkins, and Dr. Dre, among others.

Hi I'm Inkk Vibe, (it's a pseudonim) I created for myself cause I've a pretty complex name. I'm currently a university student, finishing my bachelor's degree in the communications and multimedia field. I'm originally from eastern Europe but i've lived all over. In my free time I enjoy composing music on my keyboard and piano. I would love to have a career in music one day and if not I will still keep composing, as it is one of my favorite hobbies.

Welcome Alex Alex and Alex

hey im thom im 16 and i play the piano and love to compose but can never get it from the piano onto the page. :D

Hey. I refer to myself as Octopus. Don't bother asking why...

I'm 22 and I write on Finale's P.M. software. My music is mainly modern orchestral. My biggest problem I think is that I can't correctly orchestrate (You should see my 1st Violins! Most of what I've written for them is so vague it would induce schizophrenia)

My main intentions are always to find the majestic streaks in the simple melodies. To let the sound grow from simplicity.

Vaughan-Williams, via Ravel is a current inspiration. His dainty use of folk methods make me smile - Then his amazing development of timbre in those things make me grin!

Hi guys, just another overworked and underpaid muso here..

Hello Everyone I am Evan From Bangladesh I am a Student of Tel Communication. I have a Big Craze on Music And I have Local Band in my country

good afternoon,

My name is Cheryl. I have very little music experience. I used to play the clarinet in elementary school, so I can read music at the elemntary level. Now I have a sincere interest in music and am trying ti teach myself the glockenspiel/ concert bells, so I can transition to the vibes or marimba. I am also trying to teach myself the recorder (alto for now) If anyone has any know of these instruments & are willing to teach, please contact me at: "cheryl856 at verizon dot net"

Thanks,

Cheryl

Hello everyone

My name is Jordan and I am 18 years old and live in Honolulu, HI. I have been composing on the side for about 2-3 years. I compose mostly for concert band but I have had requests from friends to compose some music for strings + percussion, and a couple of arrangements. I am currently awaiting the status of my first composition titled "Journey Through The Valley" that was dedicated to my middle school and sent to C. Alan Publications. I have another piece that I just finished but still looking for an ensemble to perform, quite difficult.

I have been playing the trombone for about 6-7 years and have been awarded the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence, not that big a deal :P I am a member of the tromboneforum.org as well and my username is the same.

So yeah..........:whistling:

Thanks!

Hi! My name is John Strub. I am 14 years old and in 9th grade. I live on Long Island, New York. I love music, and I listen from everything ranging from chant to baroque to jazz to grunge.

I began to compose when I was 7, but my compositions were in a simple "melodies-strapped-to-triad" formula that barred my expansion as a composer. When I was in 5th grade I studied with a small group of students in my school who volunteered to try out an experimental course in creative composition. I loved that class, and made a very strong relationship with the teacher. I also made friends in that class who I still am close to today.

In 6th grade, my medieval-themed composition that I wrote for an ensemble comprising violin, cello, lapharp, tambourine and flute, went to our all-state showcase, where I met even more people and had a fun albeit chilly weekend in the "wonderful city" of Rochester, New York.

Since then I started to write more popular-oriented pieces with my friend, who also used to compose, but who learned how to shred guitar and lost almost all of his prior love for the classics. However, I recently got a project from my Orchestra instructor in school, who would like me to write a piece for string orchestra.

I am very excited about joining this website. I hope I can get some ideas for my orchestral piece, as well as learn some more about postmodern and ambient concepts in music theory.

I also should probably add that I am visually impared. This has caused me great strife over the years, for I have never been able to fully develop my pieces on my own, and I can't sight-read. I do things completely by ear, feel and memory, which can yield impressive results, but usually is cause for chronic annoyance and frustration.

Hello there name's Pat. I'm 17 years old and I love music ever since I can remember music plays constantly in my head, harmony and all. I play no instruments.

I'm gonna leave out my history as a composer as its long winded and not really that neccesary. If you wanna know about it though just ask :)

Hi, I'm maestro267. I'm 20 years old and I've tried to start composing pieces on several occasions. I have a Yamaha PSR-290 keyboard from which I can get a decent-sounding strings/brass/timpani combo (using Dual and Split voices). I'm a big percussion fan and I'd love to compose a large-scale piece for percussion alone. I do improvise on the piano, sometimes for up to 30 minutes at a time, however I can never repeat a performance.

Hi, I'm Olivia, and that's the only name I'm willing to give. I'm about 15. I've played piano for 8 years and trombone for 5. I just started bass trombone in my school's jazz band. I sing in choir as a second soprano. I tried violin, but I don't practice and all I can do is tune the strings. ummm... let's see...

My first song I wrote when I was 10. I didn't write anything until I was 14 because I didn't have a very good system for writing music. I try not to limit myself when it comes to writing for a specific instrument, but brass is my favorite.

I'm kinda lost about getting around the site, anyone have suggestions?
