Pretty much ALL kinds :)

sweet! me too :) it's cool to finally talk to other composers. aside from a few ppl who dabble in it, nobody i know really understands composing or trys it. sometimes i feel soo isolated:sadtears: haha ... well sometimes, but dont we all

You've come to the perfect place. uh yeah.

*kisses hand*

awwwwwww.....

I was hoping to find a bigger forum to expose my music to so I could garner more objective criticism than I could get from my friends/family (you know how it is, they all say that it's wonderful). However, it looks like you guys are a tightly-knit community and I like that.

And we're tough on newcomers!! So you won't find any condescending here! (ooo- big word!!)

welcome nostradamus!

well, i guess "bigger" is a relative concept... there are actually more active members on this website than there are ppl at my high school. The people here at YC seem to be extremely nice :) but then again, it is only my third day as a member lol

Tightly knit? Us? Never :D

We like fresh meat

Just be sure to review other people's stuff along side of posting your own :)

Then we'll gladly accept you.

hehe... i am intrigued by all of the heated debates that take place on this website..... almost everyone expresses their convictions so articulately:cool: even though some topics seem to evolve in a rather volatile way, it's quite interesting

i suppose YC is way more than just a composition forum:)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone,

I'm accidentally founded this forum few hours ago. this forum is very interesting, since I like to compose music a lot. Anyway, great forum and hope to make some friends!

arigatou !

Welcome, watch out for Letehn. Just a tip

Welcome to YC, and just a hint, watch out for Saiming as well :P

Hey i'm not a goddamn stalker...

...

well maybe just a lil bit :P

Don't worry about either of them, they're both nice guys. ;)

We all are nice... :P

*drools at scent of fresh meat*

Hey!

You took the best piece... of the flesh ;)

Hope we didn't scare the new person away :P

Saiming, i'm going to ban you now

Edit: scraggy, that's right :P

Anyway, welcome all...! ;)

Fine :P

... Singapore is a FINE city.

I'm echurchill.

I started playing piano three and a half years ago and started playing harpsichord half a year ago with French harpsichordist Maryse Carlin. I don't have a harpsichord of my own yet, unfortunately.

Naturally, as a harpsichordist, I like Baroque and Renaissance music... mostly stuff older than Bach. I like Bach, but I happen to find earlier composers to be more creative.

;) Yep, the really old stuff and the really new stuff is the same.

Like harmony..... in early Baroque stuff, you can see the rules of harmony are being made, but still there was a creative freedom.

Today they break the rules of harmony to get that freedom back. Maybe its like a cycle?

Hey, I'm Rafn (it's my last name). I'm currently a senior in high school.

I'm interested in composing, and I'm a soon-to-be music major (probably performance or education). My favorite composers are Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Beethoven, and Debussy.

I'm currently getting into Ives. Really neat stuff. Well, that's all.

Welcome Rafn, hope you have a nice time here.

I don't know if anyone wades through however-many pages to find scared little newbies, but Hi! if you're there

I'm Viv (Sivvus) and I'm 17 from Lowestoft in the UK. I'm also a girl, since the omission of that fact caused a little, uh, "misunderstanding" in another forum I joined :)

I've only started composition recently (in the last 6 months) but I'm completely hooked! I tend to veer towards jazz or folk, as most of the instruments I play fall into those catagories. I'm almost completely new to the composing world, so any help, tips or advice (or even just a poke out of the composer door) would be great. :)

(I can't say how thrilled I was to find this site!! :D)

Welcome Viv :)

Lowestoft, is that not a brand?
