..Classical crossovers are awesome too..

We're never going to get along.

Hi, though, and welcome.. exterminate!! exterminate!!

I am a student( a Junior) in college going after a math degree to become a Math teacher in secondary schools. I have loved classical music all of my life with Prokofiev being my fav composer. In Jan 2006 I took a music appreciation class and discovered Finale notepad and fell in love with composing. In sept 2006 I purchased Sibelius 4. Being a full time student I do not compose as much as I like and a lot more than I should. I wrote a wind quintet during finals week last semester while I should have been studying. I have no training in theory and write my music just by gut instinct. I play piano and guitar and am highly skilled in neither. I hope I can be an asset to the group and look forward to any and all feedback.

Awww, that's not very nice :)

How could anyone NOT like classical crossovers though? They are super duper awesome! ...brainwash! brainwash!

violinfiddler, two wee Australian girls like us can't "invade" you guys! You just wait till we recruit more of our friends here >_>;;

And welcome rolifer :D I'm new here too! But the people here (so far) seem to be really nice and friendly ^^ I agree totally, we students don't get enough time to compose...and I like maths. (Did I just brand "NERD" all across my face?)

Duck Tales Whoo-Hooo!

My name is (chris) Varnon. I'm a college student going for a phd in either biology or psychology. As much as I love music it doesn't fit with either of my disciplines. Oh well.

I play piano, pretty decently. When I get enough money I'll get a chapman stick (which desereves its own thread) and start learning that.

I love all the things in the natural world that other people are afraid of.

Musicaly my interests are minor melodies, counterpoint, odd time signatures, polyrythm and technical playing.

I play by ear very well and am totally untrained. I can't sight read but I can decipher sheet music if need be.

My biggest influences come from Bach, Casltevania, King Crimson and Yes.

I play in a band called Iceland. We started out as... kind of a heavy prog rock I guess with more current rock flavors. We are moving toward more progressive sound and I'm moving it toward more counterpoint. So I guess the aim is counterpoint prog.

I found this place looking for fugues. I'm a sucker for counterpoint, the fugue form is pretty cool, but it does get old after a while.

Welcome, Varnon. I'm sure you'll find this site full of intelligent, thoughtful people.

Hi, my name is DJ AKA Electric Concerto.

I've been composing since age of 11, I'm 22 now. My form of composing has taken the form of electronica.

Found this place on a search engine, so I hope I can contribute here.

Hi everyone!

My name's Michael, though I go more frequently by the cheesy internet pseudonym.

Despite having a longtime interest in music, I only took up composing recently. I'm certainly looking forward to refining my skills and technique while contributing to this community.

Welcome all!!!

Ah, so you two are just the van guard?

I suppose you could say that...maybe...but unfortunately, we don't have that many aspiring composer friends

Welcome Varnon, DJ and Michael! :D

Violists? Eww. Jk

Manos, have you heard of The Beautifull Note Girl Team? I believe there is a thread somewhere..

If you get yourself a blonde girl that also PLAYS VIOLA, you'll have the easiest lay in the world right there.

*receives beating*

I'm not worried about that.

Good. Carnal pleasure is good for you.

Not really. Unless it's between a man and woman who are married to eachother.

Marriage was invented by humans and it has nothing to do with sex. Sex is a fundamental psychological need just like breathing, food, water, sleep, homeostasis and excretion. If you don't get it (pardon the pun) you'll eventually go insane.

Whatever.

I honestly think that you're funny.

Laughter is often an itended responsive emotion when I craft my posts. Not in this case though.

No, I am just very specific! :P

Anders, no I haven't heard of The Beautifull Note Girl Team! Oshiete kudasai ne! :) :P

What makes that any different? The same feelings can exist between any two people, regardless of their marital status.

oh boy, hope this discussion won't be carried out in this thread :)

Btw, I agree with Hands here :)
