Exactly. RUN!!! Save yourselves! YC is being taken over by girls!!! AHAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

This thread seems dead, but, uh, I'm Reid. I play guitar and piano. I write musics sometimes. Hi there.

Hey. We have lots of really popular threads. Our forum tends to be... active. I don't think, if you really get involved, there is a dull moment here at YC.

Yes there is. When all you americans are asleep.:)

YAY TEXAS!!!!

I'm new, name's Brent. I'm 15 and have been playing music for a few years. I play drums, guitar, keyboard, and just started to learn the mandolin.

Hi, I'm Paulette, and I have only my choral work from high school a million years ago, and some plunkety plunk I do in treble clef only!! (You guessed it, I'm a worn out soprano)

I do like simple melodic music, and poetry.

Don't worry...most of these punks won't pick up on blatantly subtle socio-political references. :P

Hey everyone, I'm Ashleigh. I'm 16 and completely new to this whole thing, still trying to figure it out.

I am mostly a singer, I think I would rather sing than do anything.

The starving muscian thing isn't lying.

So I am on my way to be a composer, i am writing a song right now...with paper and pencil. Is there some kind of program that will let you write and print out a composition?

Welcome aboard!

As for software...I'd recommend Finale Notepad, more than adequate for you, I think. Plus, it's free.

thanks, i checked it out. :P

i can't wait to start!!

Hi! I'm Nick, and I'm a student in high school. First and foremost, I am a technology enthusiast, particularly with computers. I've been infected with this whole music thing since around the end of last summer, when on a whim, I started learning to play piano. Little did I know that I would be robbing the world of a good computer programmer, and burdening it with another bad musician. I've been studying composition for what seems like a while, but I have yet to actually complete a piece. If I do, you'll be the first to know.

Hi! I'm Chris, onsite as ulrichburke (Mom's maiden name, my surname). I'm young in the number of years I've been seriously composing (2!!) but an old fart to you lot I expect in normal years (won't tell till asked).

I'm really struggling with the software needed to write music on a computer. I have Reason, Kontakt, Cubase and am having big-time problems with all of them. So I'm hoping someone will be able to help me get past the probs. so I can actually get some music finished instead of screaming at the screen every five minutes when I just don't know what to do next!

I'm trying to write New Age/Relaxation music, I've done a few pieces (about 50-60) using a not-brilliant external sound module (Yamaha MU-80) and I didn't realise that music software doesn't let you WRITE music - none of it has ever heard of notes. (Blobs on sticks. Used in Beethoven's day. Seemingly disused for about the last 15 years or so.) Reason and Kontakt have never heard of them, Cubase has but in a very limited way. Voyetra Music Write is marvellous but only works with external sound modules and they cost a fortune. Hence the cheap Yamaha off Ebay!

If anyone out there understands Reason or Kontakt and is willing to answer a one-off bunch of stupid questions, I'd be truly, incredibly grateful.

Yours hopefully

Christopher Burke.

Sounds like you need Finale or Sibelius:

Sibelius home page

But really, the programs you have are great for making your kind of music. You don't need notation to make relaxation music. So, if you have any questions about them, especially about Reason, don't hesitate to ask, and I'll try and answer them. (use PM)

Hey Chris,

How old are you?

:D

Hi Nick! Hi Chris!

Nick, I wish i had the problem of being technologically smart...but I don't.

I dought I'll be able to figure out any software, if it wasn't for other people.

This is why I am majoring in the arts

So I was looking for software on the internet and I found something called Fleximusic Music Software.

Any of you ever heard of it?

I don't know, it just looked good.

Hey Ashleigh! No, I have not heard of that software. I think that Finale Notepad has already been recommended. Another good program is Notation Composer.
