yes welcome to yc, enjoy your residency in this musical establishment

I've been doing music for low budget horror films for a few years, I used to play in a hard rock/metal band. I also produce some rappers from time to time.

Really my name is Jason, I'm from Chicago, am I a young composer?

I'm younger than my grandpa....I'm 38.

I just found this website and I'm going to go check out some of y'alls music.

Pleasure to meet all of you.

Hello!

I'm Matt from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada - and I have just been accepted into University as a Woodwind major. Yep! My primary is the Clarinet, my secondary woodwind is the Alto Sax. I do play and compose for the guitar (at quite a high degree) but, however, I cannot read music as fluently for the guitar as I can for Clarinet or Sax. Well, actually, I barely can at all - I fell into the TAB trap.

Other instruments under my belt are: The Mandolin (can't read), D Fife (Can read, suprisingly), Trumpet (Basically), and the Bass Guitar (Basically.) I have the ability to compose for everything, but have trouble with strings (only because I haven't taken lessons for strings.)

ANYHOW... I love trying new music for the Clarinet. If you need your piece recorded by a pretty good Clarinetist (with a pretty good sound quality, I've got good mics :D), don't be afraid to PM me your piece. The sky's the limit, well, at least a Grade 10 RCM...

Need piano accomp. with it? I can transcribe it into Noteworthy Composer, then export the midi file. The midi file can then be imported into Fruity Loops, which is hooked up with Garritan Personal Orchestra (VST Samples from real instruments, such as a Steinway Piano, or a Stradovarius Violin.) It might take a while, but I have morning spares right now :-)

Cheers, hope to meet all of you (and play your music!!),

M.R. Devost

Welcome new recruits.

Matt! To which school are you headed?

Hi. I just found this site, and think it's great.

My name is Joe. I play piano, and mainly use my Korg Triton Extreme to compose orchestral compositions. It's nice to meet all of you guys.

I'm Brooks, a cellist and pianist who is beginning to enjoy composition. Glad to get on board here! Anyone around who can reply?

Welcome :cool:cool username:D

Greetings!

I started playing piano in the summer of 2007 and started composing music shortly after that. I've been completely self-taught in both piano and composition and I was hoping to learn a few things about composing from this site.

Howdy... :)

I'm new here, so I'd like to introduce myself...

I just started to compose for a few months. I have plan to enter music university (in the next 2 years, I hope) but I realize I can't do anything yet.

I hope I can learn lots of thing from this forum...

Thanx :D

Welcome! The lynx is my favorite feline. :D

G'day all!!

I'm Ben from Perth, Australia. I've been composing music for a long time but much of it has stayed in my head.

Basically I am technologically challenged and can't seem to work out MIDI/software etc. If i could just get some pointers that would be great!

I use a macbookpro and have sibelius installed on it...no idea how to use it though. I have a korg and have recorded some stuff directly from it- but would love to link it up to my computer.

really glad i found this site and hoping for some good things to come out of this:D

cheers

Hi, I'm Ken. I'm 27 years-old, but I've been creating songs here and there since I was 17.

I'm just looking for some forums right now to share my song that I recently posted on youtube. It's actually been awhile since I made it, which was back in 2004. Because of a hard drive wipe (a backup drive) I lost all my raw music. I made the song in cakewalk 2004 using some free public soundfonts posted at a soundfont library site. the name of my song, though, is "My Angel".

I've made some other songs that I'm working on remaking that were also lost in the wipe. I dabble here and there - I've created some techno, trance, movie-soundtrackish type orchestral music, video game music, and other little misc. projects. It's a hobby at this point, but I'm very passionate about it. This particular song though was inspired by richard Marx and Bryan Adams type songs - particularly the slower 80's love songs.

Normally I don't share my music online, but I figured I might as well before it's too late and I never get to. :)

Anyways, the URL is here:

YouTube - My Angel - By Ken Soto Jr.

I do demonstrate briefly that it's me singing, but because I lost just the music without the vocals, I had to use a semi-older music w/vocals mp3 I found on a backup cd. I hope those who like love songs enjoy it.

Hey, I'm Seth and I'm from Ohio. I'm 18 and have just started to get into composition. I'm a percussionist, trained in both classical and Jazz, but the later being my favorite. I'll post my music here, if I can, as I complete them.

Yo, 'tis I, Willow. I'm the owner of Omidia, and have been composing and working with MIDI artists for...8 years? Goodness, it feels like forever. A good forever.

With fully honesty I tell you that I joined this site because I am looking to restart Omidia, to start anew as a more inclusive MIDI-site. There will be fewer MIDI hobbiests as the years push on (esp. since both the newest versions of the Mac OS and Windows Vista only support their base synths, which narrows the once wide field of creative opportunity down to about the size of a rat hole), and we will need a place to congregate, discuss MIDI, share our compositions, and build enduring musical friendships. I hope to host a site that will help accomplish this.

I am pleasantly amazed by the unity, creativity, as well as the overall layout of this place. When I was talking with the new Omidia development group (that I encourage all interested people to join in on!), someone mentioned this place to me...and as it turns out, you have accomplished a great deal of what I had in mind. In any event, I think that we could greatly benefit from working together on creating a new Omidia and I look forward strengthening my relationship with this community. :)

EDIT: You might want to know something about my music history! Lalala. I've taught myself how to play the piano -- I had lessons when I was a kid, but alas never did what my teachers told me to do! I study intently Hindustani classical music as well as jazz, progressive rock/metal/20th-21st century classical, and video game music. I plan to become involved in art music as well as possibly fusing all of the styles I mentioned together in my own works. I have written music for 4 games that ultimately never got finished, but I'm not down about it. I look forward to moving on in my musical career! You can hear some of the tunes at my personal site, which hasn't been updated in...forever: Aaron "Willow" Eason's Personal Website -- I think that about sums it up!

Peace,

hello willow

EDIT: Fancy you should edit your post like that, SV1. ;D

Also, Omidia stands for "The Original MIDI Archive." I probably should have explained that before-- VGMusic is to sequenced video game music recreations as Omidia is to sequenced original music.

Hope that helps clear things up!
