hello everyone :)

my name is michael rybak. i'm 22. i'm from ukraine.

i've played a couple of instruments since childhood, but never started composing till i came to my piano teacher at age of 16. she opened another world of music to me, and another myself as well.

i consider myself extremely talented. i've never learned any musical/composition/any other theory, i'm even very lame at reading the score - 1 page of piano piece (of medium complexity, like WTC pieces) takes me 10-15 minutes to read through.

i've only followed my intuition/gift/whatever in composing, and i think i've achieved quite a lot.

i'm very arrogant towards any critique - i'm not against it, i just treat composing as my personal relationship with God and with music.

at this kind of relationship i'm perfect by nature, so no advice is appreciated, BUT on the other hand, i will rarely post any of my works and ask for comments, so i think there's no confilct with my attitude and the society. i will only post stuff written on musical games/challenges occasions, and those i wouldn't consider anything sacred, so feel free to leave any kind of comments :)

non-musically, i'm a programmer, working on applied-maths stuff for medical software.

i also love DDR/ITG arcade games, you should definitely check those out if you're into sports and music :)

Hello everybody.

My name is Pat, I'm 21 and live in Canada.

I've been writing music in a rock band setting for years. Recently though I've started getting into avant-garde, experimental music and minimalism (weird contrast, I know). Expect to see and here from me in the upload section!

Hello, all. I'm Rufus from the UK.

Joining because I've recently discovered a liking for composition and need serious critical appraisal and feedback in order to progress. I was teaching contemporary/popular music at an English college and had to fill in for absent theory tutors. Discovered that Sibelius was quite useful for teaching purposes and then became fascinated with constructing tunes with it for my own purposes!

I will be posting a few of my own attempts soon, so get the earplugs out...;)

Hello,

I'm Geert Van Hoorick. I come from Belgium and I am a law professor, but the reason I will be here is that I love to compose ... I publish my scores with MP3's on the Sibelius Music website since the end of 2006.

Best wishes.

Hi, I'm Aaron and I attend Duquesne University as an organ performance major with an emphasis on sacred music. In reality, I'm only getting the degree so that I can get an organ position in a church somewhere while I pursue my hopeful career as a film composer. Film music has always been a fascination of mine, and it's one of my two "dream" jobs to have. I would love to write and orchestrate film scores, and my favorite composer for film is Alan Silvestri. The other dream job would be a singer/songwriter much like that of my favorite songwriter...Billy Joel. There aren't many popular pianist songwriters out there that have lasted as long as he, so it would be a dream of mine to do that. Anyway, I'm just starting out here on the forum, so I'll start posting some of my compositions here soon. I hope you enjoy them.

Hi!

I have always been a keen classical music lover from an early age.

I started learning the French horn, a task that will never be completed, then going on to do lots of choral singing and composition.

I studied music at university majoring in composition whilst joining a military band to pursue my dream of horn playing!

It is now about 7 years on and I have moved to rural Warwickshire, with a steady boring job in IT, a nice little cottage and a half built music room!

I still do a lot of playing and singing and of course listening! I am now looking to start up a choir school, currently tutoring some little nippers that have already been outcast as non singers, getting some really inspiring results. So much so that I want to put more time into this than singing myself!

Now is also the time to get my compositional skills back on track and get writing!

My musical tastes are extremely varied with compositional inspiration from; Messiaen, Takemitsu and Scelsi.

I am also interested in the organ, Bach, Beethoven, any Renaissance or Baroque music and of course military music!

Hi, I'm Will and I'll post some more info when I have time!

Hi

I am Laurent Tolga Alemdar from Turkey, and I am very new to music. I am 18 , I started to "compose" a few months ago.

He has a girlfriend? :O:O

Are you somehow the female version of him? :P

Hahaha anything's possible.

Hello. My name is Bekah and I just joined. I am currently in high school. I play 10 instruments. I am in band, choir, and orchestra. My main instrument is viola. Before you start with the jokes, I have most likely heard them. I am also in marching band and was the drum major this past year.

I am going to be attending Butler University this upcoming fall. I am going into Music Education.

I have been singing since I was three and have always found music to be interesting to me on so many levels. When I find a piece of music that just makes me feel a certain way, I am hooked forever.

Wanna know more? I am open to questions.

Welcome all, to YC! :w00t: :) ;)

Getting your works performed by a professional orchestra? You must be excited. I'm only 24, and only recently were some of my works performed. It's an incredible feeling. Best of luck!

Hey there, I'm Jonathan, 16 years of age, and I live in New Jersey..still in highschool.. I spend almost all of my time composing, reading, and learning. I joined this place to meet and observe people around my age because I plan to make a career out of composing or teaching composition. I play 6 instruments/sing in a touring chior.. and I'm soon becoming the directer of music at a nearby church.. I've played in many rock/jazz bands and musical productions in the last 5 years of my life (written songs/music for these as well), but just recently I began completely indulging myself in classical music of all time periods, now it's just about all I listen to and write-although I am in love with every color and shape of music itself. I've also written poems and painted/drawn for as long as i can remember. There's obviously much more to me than what I can display on this little profile so feel free to talk to me..

Hello! I'm new!

I stumbled upon this site years and years ago, back before it had a forum... or much of anything, really. I tried to submit some awful things :D

I'm currently in my third year as a classical percussion major at the Peabody Conservatory, and my roommate (also at Peabody) is a member here (oingo86). When he found out I knew about this place already, he made me join. So here I am!

I actually don't compose much, but I do a ton of improvisation and video game arranging. Most of my background is in jazz, but I've been playing video games since I was five, and I don't want my mother to think all that time has been a complete waste ;)

Anyway, I guess I'll see ya'll around!

hi everyone

my name is Xander, I'm from belgium, and I study music ever since I was 5. I started playing the violin, did that for 11 years, and than i switched to viola, and I now study music at the conservatory in Leuven.

I compose sometimes, and I hope to hear your comments about my compositions.
